Bit of a strange one and not 100% horse related……….

As some of you know my ex and I split up in February and my dilemma is really about how to meet new people………………

I am not sure I am ready for another relationship quite yet but have been thinking when I am, how the hell I am I ever going to meet anyone! I haven’t ‘dated’ since my early 20’s and the prospect terrifies me!

I live in a rural area and to be honest don’t have a buzzing social life, it really revolves around horsy stuff and people who I have known forever! I do work in a city in a company that has thousands of employees, I am not really in to clubbing or city nights out as it’s a 40 mile round trip and I have to get up early for the horse/dog.

So really my question is how did you do it and any tips/advice? (Particularly on how to meet handsome millionaires!)

Thanks in advance!

What about a dating website, think there is one called muddy something or other (cant remember but can find out) where you can meet other people your age that are into horses/shooting/hunting/dogs....all that kinda thing.

Only know about this as my friend gave it a whirl...she met some nice people actually.

When i split up from my Ex i spent a lot of time thinking about the exact same thing, although i live in a town and had a resonable social life, i dont really enjoy clubbing. I joined a dating web site, and never really took it very seriously. I chatted to few guy but never felt ready to meat up with them. I did however chat to one guy for over a year and got to know him really well. After about 14 months, i realised i was very jelouse when ever he went on a date, so decided i needed to meet him, we have been together for just over 2 years. So i would recomend joining a dating, and just have a laugh!!!!!!!!

I did the online dating thing and met a fab guy, not a millionaire sadly but then I am not an heiress either!

I went on lovehorse as I wanted someone who fitted in with my world (he has a horse too) and would put up with my slightly random behaviour. There some really nice genuine chaps out there but there are also a lot of plonkers, particularly older, bald men, missing a few teeth who think 20somethings will find them irresistable.

I browsed several sites for a while before joining, interesting to see how many familiar faces pop up on each one! One thing I encountered a lot was the view that everyone with a horse was looking for a bloke with land for free grazing. This is of course all rubbish, we want free draining land, outdoor school, indoor school, horsewalker...

I would steer clear of anyone looking for 'romance' or 'separated' or 50somethings looking for 20-30 year olds!

Best of luck, it worked for me!

I did some online dating and also speed dating last year when I was trying to get back into the dating game. I will just warn you - there are a LOT of frogs out there and not many princes. It is worth investing in a site where you have to pay to join - at least then you know that the other members are serious in dating and meeting people rather than trying to fix up a quick sh@g on a Friday night!! You wouldn't believe the pictres some men I met on free sites sent me!

Anyway, I didn't end up meeting anyone special on line although it was a lot of fun! It took me a trip 400 miles up the road to Edinburgh to see some friends before I met my chap!

If you want something quite sad, I am a third year at uni, went to an all girls school from being 4-18! Never really interacted with men AT ALL! then got into uni, mixed course (obv) and i was like O ****!!!!!
Then I realised didn't like ANY of the guys, and kinda resided to just not meeting anyone until I graduated, and hopefully met someone at work or something like that.....
went on a work expo placement to a lambing farm, met my current boyfriend, been together 2 years, and in my opinion no1 could beat him! but was totally random, unsearched for and totally unexpected!
maybe the same will happen to you? if not, I know a couple of people who have used dating websites and succeeded!
But I agree, there are also some.... odd.... people out there! so just be careful!

GOOD LUCK!

haha that can't be real, a jewish african who goes hunting and hacking but yet sits on his bum all day watching telly. Horsey people dont have time to stay in bed til 12 then watch telly all day, and where have his apparent millions come from ? to be able to hire 12 staff. You know what though, if it was real you'd hardly have to see him and would be able to use his money
wink.gif
leave him in bed with his 'python' lol!

I've met some lovely people online. Found my bloke living on the next street (in a house- that sounded like he was a hobo) but if i hadn't i think i'd have ended up with either of two of my friends online.

I got divorced, was struggling to meet men in general as I worked in a female business, lived in a rural location and competed/rode at weekend so I was not meeting any men. I decided to join an internet dating site as a laugh, I met a couple of men who were idiots, a couple who were Ok and one who is now my OH and has been for over 4 years. He was a city liver, no pets, I lived in the country with my dog and two horses. We now live in a gorgeous farm in Devon, 32 acres, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 21 chickens, and 4 horses of our own plus 12 liveries. My Oh rides now, he hunts, he showjumps, he dressages, he has started shooting and beating. There are some fantastic men out there who are in the same situation as you, struggling to meet woman they want to be with. They get targetted on the web by single women with kids, by Russian and Philipino women wanting to get to the UK, he showed me the type of women who were targetting him and they were horrific. So search through the sites, sort out the idiots from the normal ones and don't expect to find the perfect man immediately. Don't take it too seriously and you won't be dissapointed. Ensure you look after your safety before anything else and go for it. My OH is fantastic, gorgeous and my best friend. I just wish I met him 10 years before and hadn't wasted my time on my useless ex. Good Luck!

Hi

My advice is don't look for anyone, just have fun and enjoy life. Accept as many invitations as possible and try new things.

I got divorced after 10 years of marriage and was totally lost. After my initial shock I started to enjoy life and did things I wouldn't normally do and went places the ex would never go to. I got in touch with old friends and made lots of new ones. I knew (or at least hoped) that I wouldn't be single forever so I looked on it as my time and I had to cram as much fun in as possible until I met someone new.

In the end I was single for 5 years - but what a great 5 years I had. I'm married now to a wonderful man (he even likes my horsies) but I still look back on those days with fond memories. Singledom isn't an afflication - its an opportunity!

Then when you least expect it - the right one comes along just at the right time.

Good luck!

I agree kal40 (or I hope so cos I'm just getting the big D and this is my strategy

!!).
I think blokes can smell desperation and run a mile! Just get out and have fun, challenge yourself to do something new you wouldn't have done before, never decline an invitation and just when you're least expecting it...
