Hi everyone!

Well here it is. Daughter and Dolly's three year anniversary!!!

I wanted to post an update today, apart from anything else, to thank everyone who's been with us all that time - and longer - from my "should I buy daughter a pony" threads to my "OMG the pony is a monster threads"!!!!!!

Where do we go from here? Well Dolly is stuck with us, and we won't be selling her. I can see that in the near-ish future Daughter will need another ride - in what form that comes remains to be seen.

I was looking at photos online last night, and daughter's wall of rosettes when I tucked her in last night. They've done quite well together haven't they :)

I took them out jumping yesterday - practice for an upcoming event, and also a treat for their anniversary. Dolly was a nightmare!! Shows she's still the boss!!! She was a nappy, un-cooperative little so and so, refusing silly jumps and pinging a mile over others! lol!!!! You just can never take them for granted can you!

They did their first one day event a couple of weeks ago. Narrowly missing the placings, but put a really good effort in. They had 60% in dressage, clear in SJ but a couple of refusals in XC (which we knew was going to happen as there was a bright blue water tray!!!). I think daughter has got the eventing bug!

Anyway, here's some photos. Mainly from the ODE as they're my current favourites!!

and finally.....

hahaha who'd have thought there was such a little superstar under there!! :)

Anyway, a massive thank you to everyone who's been along for the ride. I'm not sure where we'll go from here, but regardless there's plenty more fun to be had with Little Dolly Mixtures.

Is it too early for wine??? Bucks Fizz then - for all!!! And fizzy jelly sweets :D

Thank you!!! Sadly Dolly hasn't shot up though :-(

The fly veil is custom made.....by a company who has chose Daughter as their sponsored rider!!! PM me if you'd like their details.

Just listened, yeah that's proud dad! Proud mum can be heard to say "slow down!!!!" in a rather stern voice! lol!!!

She has grown up a lot, and do you know what Dolly gave her for their anniversary? A busted lip from putting a dirty stop in and daughter headbutted her! Ooops!!!!

Thank you x

Wow. Pop the cork on the bottle!! What a cracking little pony, she looks super!
Well done to your daughter, she looks very confident and sounds like she's having a ball.
I look back over the years at my daughter and her pony and realise now that despite the ups & downs she has probably had the best teacher as well as a best friend !

Lovely update she is doing so well. :)

Thank you xxx

3 Years?? Really? REALLY???? OMG!

I know! Can't actually believe it, but seeing as every year I make them a photo book to mark their anniversary, and we now have 3 books....yup it's 3 years!!! I've aged 5 years for every year though! ;-) x

cant believe its 3 years................wow...

Thanks Noodle!! I can't either!!!!! I seem to think you've been here with us for a good few years too. Very strange having a whole group of friends I've never met, but known for nearly 4 years!!!!

Just wait for the "OMG second pony is a nightmare" threads!!!! :-) x

Thanks for bumping I LOVE your updates. I think Dolly must have shrunk though. Have you been bathing her too much?

Quite the opposite actually!! I think we've bathed her about 6 times (if that!) in 3 years!!! lol!! She seriously hides the stains (we're NEVER getting a grey, we've been far too spoilt!) however daughter seems to have grown like a weed!!!!!

Thought I'd bump as I posted quite early in the day, so probably missed the evening (and tipsy!) people!!! :-)

I REALLY wish Dolly would grow a couple of hands. She's a monkey and I can't bear to see her terrorise another little rider....however....perversely it might be a little entertaining! lol!!!

:-)

It doesn't seem like 3 years does it?

Lovely photos, you've obviously all learned a lot in the time.
Here's to the next 3 yrs.

Hi Pearlsasinger! Another who's been with us all the way!!!

Thank you!!! Yes, mainly just learnt not to look, and to keep holding the camera even if things go wrong....you never know if £250 is around the corner!!!!

xxxx

love your updates, dolly and daughter look great andlooked like they were having funjumping even though it was a little quick.....i cant believe its 3 years sinceyou were agonising about buying a pony and then after buying her, wishing you hadnt. what a good investment, she has taught your daughter so much and daughter looks so confident. please keep the updates coming

OMG three years already, have followed all your posts! Love how happy your daughter looks with Dolly, and really love the photo of your daughter with Dolly when she was smaller. Its lovely to see how she has grown and in fact how they have grown together. Really lovely, thanks keeping us updated.

Arg just typed a reply and it's gone....
Love love love your posts. You must be so proud. Daughter is a cracking rider and Dolly is Awesome!
When finally, even with roller skates, Dolly gets outgrown there is a little girl in Oxfordshire who would love her ;-)

Thanks for bumping, I missed this earlier and I love your updates. Daughter and Dolly look great together. Did you enjoy the ode. My oldest daughter did one in April and I loved it although was a bag of nerves. Doesn't time fly, can't believe we've had one pony for just over a year and the other a year in September. Keep the updates coming, my kids love to see how your daughter is getting on.

Its NEVER too early for wine. :)

Lovely to see the photos, and the comparison. They've come on sooo well together!

Well given that I was in the pub at 1pm today (and back in the office for 2pm :-) ) thank goodness!!! Thanks Old Bat - another friend who has been with us a very long time now xxxx

:) Can't believe it's been so long! D&D have come so far together, such a classy team.

Thanks Lolo.....luuuuuurve you!!! :-)

Lovely pictures. Ponies teach our children so much, and sadly they just about get to realy manage them as they out grow them!

Hope you have more happy days out before the winter arrives.

Thank you - very true. Although Dolly still enjoys chucking daughter off when the fancy takes her.... ;-)

What a cute wee pony :) time flies eh?

Thank you!!! xxxx

She has taught her lots. That particular video was a jump off...hence the speed....although normal isn't that much slower. Dolly has developed two speeds...bomb it or refuse. We've grown to prefer the first and still live in hope of that steady canter (not poo your pants) clear round!!! ;-)

Awww thanks lots. Glad I bumped....seems there's many more night owls than early birds! x

3 Years already?! Wow! You've all come a long way in that time! May they have many more happy years together :)

Thank you. xxxxx

Thank you. We loved the ODE although I've never seen daughter look more nervous! (is there something about ODEs or was it the bright blue water tray....!!!!!) Good luck with your ponies, hope they give you as much fun as Dolly has to us xxx

I love your updates; Dolly is such a dude and your daughter is fab. You must be very proud of them both.

I also think you don't do yourself justice; I would love to have had you as my mum when I was a kid. You seem so enthusiastic for both Daughter and Dolly and I'm sure some of her confidence comes from knowing she has that support. Onwards and upwards for all of you!

I have never posted on your threads but have followed them since the beginning. What a plucky little girl your daughter is - I remember when she broke her arm and was back in the saddle in no time. Anybody would be proud of her. As for Dolly - well, there is a lot going on under that ginger fringe ...
