To all,

Well a little update is needed! Dolly and Daughter have started to jump. Well Dolly jumps, and daughter tries her best to learn how to do it!! They're doing absolutely great together and we all couldn't be happier.

Jumping is definately Dolly's thing and she's very good at it. I used to worry that she'd be too much for daughter to learn to jump on, but it's quite the opposite. Because she knows what she's doing, daughter can just hang on and concentrate on her position (and not falling off!!!!). And Dolly is being so patient. She's doing a lot in trot at the moment, and the occasional one in canter and Dolly's just popping over them (and resisting the urge to charge off to the next one). I'm really proud of them.

She's also lost lots of weight and looks really well. Still got a belly, and a bit of a crest, but much better.

Anyway, here's the pic! It's a lucky shot because it's still early days and this was a particularly good one, so it maybe looks like she's a little better than she is (because for this one shot, there's many not so good ones - hope that doesn't sound mean!!) but she's waited a long time to get to this point, and I'm so happy for her.

And here's another happy looking pic too!!

Those worrying early days seem so far away now. Not a minute's regret (apart from making a prat out of myself by being a neurotic idiot!!!)

Thanks as always for your interest (if anyone reads this!!!)

Special rum and mango cocktail (that I'm about to make!) for anyone who comments!! :D:D:D

Well done them. Sounds like they have a great relationship and your daughter is looking great considering she has not been jumping long. She is also looking a pro at the matchy matchy business too.

I was just about to open the wine but Ill take up your offer instead! They look really happy together, well done to you all, you have made fab progress in a short while and your daughter looks so happy and confident and Dolly looks very proud of her young charge. Onwards and upwards from here :)

She looks a cracking pony to learn on and your daughter looks very happy up there. Here's to lots of fun for them both

Thank you!!! She was a little bugger to start with (and still has her moments!) but is perfect to keep daughter's attention!

***pours cocktail out and sticks in umbrella!!***

Hopefully if you can't tell the difference between a person and a horse, the man with the gun might make a similar mistake in which one he shoots tomorrow.
Can you not get some interesting/original troll-isms?
*sigh*

Thanks B 2 B !!! x

Thanks!!!

They're very well suited! Both can be grumpy and bite your head off, but tend to always do their best and give things their all.

Both cost a fortune in upkeep too!!!

Oh and as for the matchy matchy business, considering daughter is a bit of a tomboy and totally not interested in clothes, makeup - probably wouldn't even brush her hair if I didn't make her, god help me if I leave socks out that don't match whatever jods and numnah we happen to have chosen to use today!!! Got too much to choose from that child!!! :p

Hope she doesn't read this!! lol !!!! :D

Thanks! But can we make it onwards and onwards, keeping all hooves on the ground please!!!

Nerves were doing much better until this jumping business started!!

Joking actually!! My nerves are much better now. I trust them both - daughter's a good rider and we know Dolly's tricks (mostly!) now!!!

Cocktail is gooooooood! Red mango rummy type think! YUM!!!! Sending one to you through the broadband box!! :p

:D

Yay, a Dolly update! The best kind of post :D

They are looking fan blooming tastic. So pleased for you, Daughter and Dolly :D:D

err.. I do believe daughters' legs are getting longer!

lol !!! You noticed!!!!

Yep, she had a bit growth spurt!!! Think she decided its what needed to happen to ride Dolly better! She's THAT committed!!!

She's still only a dink - 4 foot 6 inches now, aged 10. But I'm a hair until 5 foot, so I don't think she'll be very tall. Good job really, as she intends to have Dolly forever!!!

That few extra inches she's grown definately did help! :D

What great pics and one very happy pony and daughter.....! Well done to them...practice makes perfect...great going!

hahaha thanks!!!

Do wish I'd kept a diary over the past year!! Lovely to be on the right side of it now!!

They do look good together don't they!!

:D

Those pics just gave me a big lump in my throat thinking how well you and daughter and dolly have done together! you should write a book for first time pony parents coz whatever you do works!!

Awww thanks, that's lovely to say.

I'd love to write a book, but it might have to be along the lines of a "dummy's guide"!!!!

We owe it all to the riding school - they are fantastic and have helped us every step of the way.

Those first couple of months were so scary and I feel a bit of a muppet now, because of how worked up I got about everything. But it's all worked out fine now, and I wouldn't swop Dolly for the world.

At first we worried we over horsed her, but it's lovely now to know that she's got years ahead of her. And not to worry that she'll outgrow Dolly anytime soon. I think if we'd gotten a smaller pony, she'd be getting a bit big, even now. And Dolly has so much ability, she'll keep daughter on her toes!!

Happy days!! :D
