***Daughter and Dolly - a little update***

I have raised my glass to dolly and daughter. what a pair. what a team. truelly amazing and credit to your daughter. she stuck thete she believed and bloody hell she as achieved . ok so maybe time to think bigger move on and let daughter florish. will be hard thete will be tears but look at dollys future(advertised well good home) look at daughters future .you sound a good mum no pressure to daughter(your daughter is amazing) you will find(prob another no hoper) and daughter will shine. im trying to say in a gabbled way ONWARDS AND UPWARDS to your daughter. shes a fab lovely girl who coukd teach a few adults a few things . x x x

absolutely this......fab report as always R.....

good luck to dolly if and when you find her a new home (and secretly hope its a HHO home so we can have more updates on D)!

and to your daughter - what a fab little rider - keep it up!!

D&D are such an awesome combination. I love these updates. Brilliantly well done on the champs! You must be so proud of how far D&D haven come.

Thanks OldNag! I am super proud, but a bit devastated to almost see the end in sight.

Think we struck lucky with dolly, shes not your typical "mother's dream" but she's our one in a million x

Well done D &D. It's always so lovely reading your updates. MIini RM always looks so proud and appreciative of Dolly even if she's been a brat. Not all children are like that!

On a slight side note, you say Dolly's been a bit 'off' recently. Might be worth getting her checked over by a vet or a good physio. If somethings niggling her it's not always obvious.

You'll have fun finding a new horse. How about a nice native like a connie or a welsh or even a fell. It'll open up a huge world of M & M showing. Plus you could ride it too;) How's your lessons going?

Im gonna get her back checked as I wonder if shes changed shape, she looks like she has. Although she's been 100% since her little break.

We LOVE Connie's! And they are high on our list! Daughter likes friesans and fell ponies. So yes, m & ms could be a possibility. Jumping is what she loves though so I can more see her with an eventer type, so connie x perhaps? Anything dun is catching my eye too for some reason.

See how I avoided the subject of my riding? ; ) x

A registered connie ( in dun course, even though it's actually a bucksin) would be perfect. All the M&M classes, they're fabulous jumpers and they're ideal hunter eventer types too. If I was 6" shorter I'd have exactly that .

And you could ride it too. Inbetween your riding lessons...... How are they going again? ;)

What a great update. Good on daughter for not giving up at the champs she realy deserved her placing and good on Dolly for pulling it out the bag.
I always love seeing pics of daughter and dolly coz nomatter what place they have come daughter always looks so happy. She is obviously enjoying her pony and having fun which is what it's all about. I was showjumping afew months ago and a girl came second and I heard her dad say "It's no good coming 2nd" That realy made me sad.
So well done to you for supporting your daughter no matter how she does.
I won't be much help in what the future holds (I ride a 12.2hh and i'm 30 ;P I'm lucky to be a shortarse ) But whatever happens I know you will find Dolly a fab home if it comes to that and you and daughter can hold your heads up high. you've done an amazing job with her, so many would have given up, sold her on and she'd have been shoved from piller to post like my poor Herbie was. But you stuck with her and gave her the chance to shine, the chance to be the pony she was born to be. You should both be very proud of all you have achieved. xx

Laura, you are very eloquent. Only you ever really nearly make me cry!!!!!!

Thank you, youre so supportive and an inspiration yourself x

You have to focus on the fact that daughter will have as big a smile on pony no2 (although you will be even more scared as the fences will be bigger!) and Dolly will be having loads of fun terrorising a new child and it's poor mother until new child has learned to grip on, kick and grin!!

Another great update. What a fantastic result, your daughter is so confident and doesn't seem to let the little down parts upset her. Well done dolly team and good luck with horse hunting, I think we may have to look early next year as well - kids do seem to have the habit of growing!!!

Take up carriage driving then you can keep Dolly and have a new one for D.;)

Congratulations to all three of you on your achievements. Your daughter's riding skill and motivation will ensure her success with the next pony.

daughter and dolly updates are better than any pony book I read as a child! the naughty pony who has proved to be a superstar in disguise ,you get the 'omg it's all going wrong, are they going to do it' moments and then in true super pony style Dolly pulls out all the stops and they surprise everyone with a super win and happy ending :D Thank you!!
Whatever happens in the future Dolly will always be special, I think she's rather like Nanny Mcphee lol, sent to show a little person the right path before moving on to the next who needs her!

I have a little tear in my eye! I'm sure dolly will find a fab new home and teach another little girl well, and whatever daughter gets next will be one lucky pony xx

Lovely update, well done to you all! Its been such a formative and wonderful journey for you all....
You can get the odd black connie.....:) then you could call him/her Celtic Goth!

Ahhhh I know you're right Honey! It's just hard!!!! But yes, I do secretly giggle when I think of Dolly up to her old tricks again!!! She's taught daughter so much, it is time for her to teach someone else now I think :-(

Just caught up with D&D aren't they looking fab together!

Thanks Dubsie!!! Sorry for slow reply - been a manic weekend!!! xxx

I know, I wish they'd be more considerate about it!!!! Daughter doesn't let things get her down - she always sees the good in Dolly, they both make me proud. I just can't shake the feeling though that it will never be the same with another horsey.....please someone tell me I'm wrong!!

Thank you!! Driving is something I've considered for Dolly!!! I think she'd be great at it. Now I just need that lottery win and the land to keep her on......!!! xxx

Hahahahaha awww thank you, what a lovely thing to say. I love writing, and have thought a few times of maybe writing something about them - either little stories or a "dummys guide to being a first time pony owner".....just need some free time!!!

You're right, Dolly will always be special. I really don't want to let her go, but I know it's probably the right decision. Soooooooo hard though! Thank you xxx

Awww thanks loads. Can't believe we'll be starting again sometime soon!!! x

I've seen a few nice black connies - daughter also likes friesans and fells too. She does seem to favour the stockier types, whereas I'd have liked her to maybe have something less of a tank for the next one!!! We'll have to see!!
