***Daughter and Dolly....I was a brave mummy!***

Never fear, when daughter has completely outgrown Dolly you will be able to take over the ride and tag along whilst she is riding her 14.2!!We have a mother and daughter combo at our little yard, the daughter has shot up in the last year (shes 13) and is now taller than her Mum. They dont really want to sell the 12.2 pony they have had for about 7 years so the Mum keeps him ticking over. Role reversal at its best. Another lovely update from you, I think as your daughter grows her smile gets bigger too :)

Hi Lolo!

Nope I'm not buying that theory, its going to be stressful, worrying, horrible and bloody expensive!!! Can I just buy another horsebox???

And I can see oh randomly walking around with Dolly looking lost! I don't think he'll ever love another pony like Dolly.

Maybe having another baby is an easier plan.....

Nawwwwww!!!!!!

Best smiley ever!

No. You'll enjoy it! We had to go and look for another horse recently, following Al's baby horse having to be PTS. Thought it was going to be horrible, nothing could replace her (especially in our budget!) and we generally were dreading it. Literally 4 days after we started casually looking we found the perfect horse who has slotted into the team and has stolen everyone's heart!

Positive thoughts :D You could take Dolly out and get your OH to do inhand with her!

Oooooh yes Ella I think she would be perfect mini Redmone loves her jumping ;)

I did think you were going to say you hacked out with her so I'm a tiny bit disappointed :D

Ha I know of a 16.1 chestnut mare ...dollies double that I bought off this forum many years ago...has the attitude and is a handfull but if U love her she's putty in your hand ....

Sadly people never like her and she changes hands but ...well a few will know the horse im talking of will dig tomorrow and find out where she us but I told the last known owner id buy her back and I would and happily give her to you all.

Are you on fb? I've loads of pics of her on there and can point you to another forum where I documented her story...right from when I picked her up in motorway service station lol.

To an injury whilst on loan that saw me in debt to nearly her pts to her getting me jumping again...then the biatch..that jumped discovery..dumped me at a 6 inch cross pole when someone came to view her and busted a rib...bloody mare had never stopped at a jump in her life

How lovely! Well done Daughter!

I look at your photos and think "wow, hasn't Daughter grown! Where has time gone by?" so I can't even imagine what it must feel like for you! It's gone by really quickly!

What a lovely thing for your daughter. I can remember having hours of fun out hacking with other girls and boys when I was only a bit older than your daughter is now. I hope they continue to take her out and be sensible, although I suspect that if any of them wanted to do anything your daughter felt wasn't right, she would speak up for herself. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

They're really good kids at our yard, I've seen many of them grow up over the past 4 years - lovely young ladies (not many boys - that's a good thing - boys and hacking alone, I don't think my nerves could take!!!) - and yes, I know daughter would never be taken along with something she wasn't happy with. She's quiet but very sure of right and wrong. :)

I'd squash Dolly flat!!!! And.......I think I'd find her a bit scary!!!

Good idea though! :D

Honestly, I'm giving the whole "inhand" thing some thought!! Dolly is brilliant travelling - so easy. She's be a great partner if next pony wasn't as good in that way. And she loves going out, so I think she'd really miss not going to shows (and I'm not just saying that, she never looks happier! nearly floored me last time trying to load herself!) not sure about OH doing it though....I can't see my goth/biker husband in tweed somehow! :p

Sorry to disappoint!!! I've bunked off riding at the moment, but will get back to it when I'm feeling a bit better and a bit less fat!! Ella's pony is awesome, and yes probably perfect! BUT NOT YET!!!! :p

It's just flown hasn't it. I've loved it, but bit scared that we might be moving onto "next pony" neurotic mum threads soon!!!! Daughter is growing like a weed. I'm 5 foot - maybe they swopped babies on me in the hospital!!!!

:D

You'll just have to have another baby to grow into Dolly!!:D

Glad she hacked out with her friends. I remember the first few times stepson did on the lovely Harvey, and my heart being in my mouth. Now he goes off on my fire breathing dragon mare without a second thought.

Once you get over the shock, this stage is lovely, you get a bit more of a rest and they become a bit more independant. You find yourself sitting in deckchairs at shows watching while they sort themselves out! And at least she isn't (hopefully) going to grow to over six foot like stepson and need a giant of a horse!

Hmmm might we soon see pics of you and daughter hacking out together??? Did you carry on with your lessons? Imagine how great it could be if you could ride with her

You never know, could be sooner than you think, eh Redmone..;)xx

Brilliant :), I would have been a bag of nerves :), I was bad enough letting mini ride across a field with her friend last night, and I was in eye shot :o she is only 7 though ;)

They look a completely different partnership

Awww thank you, what a lovely thing to say!!!

I just can't imagine Dolly as a driving pony, and I can't help but think that at cart AND my fat ass might be a big ask for her! lol!!!!

:D

**starts looking through ponies for sale adds** :D :D

Nooooooooooo!!!! ***shakes fist in the air in desperation***

.....and then logs clicks on horsemart.....in favourites.....

:o

i so love dolly and daughter updates but this one is such a happy one, what a fab summer daughter is going to have:D and daughter will just have to learn to fold her legs up a bit so that she doesn't get too leggy for Dolly before next summer!! she's certainly not going to be too heavy;)

Thanks ibblebibble (awesome name!!!) I'd swear daughter is hoiking up her stirrups at the moment, think she's trying to fool me!

They've got a jumping comp at weekend, that they attempted 4 times last year and didn't get placed once (didn't get round without falling off a few times!!!) So daughter is hell bent she's doing it this time (think rocky running up those stairs and you get the idea!!!)... Have everything crossed for us!!!

Xxx

Gosh she has grown, at this age its scary because they go from little girls to giant leg mosters in a few months.

I don't mean to alarm you, but I still worry about my little girl when she is hacking alone and tend to keep one eye on the clock, one out the window and she is 22 this July. Perhaps you need to do what I did. When my Sophie was 18 I started again and now have a 4yo and a 1yo waiting in the wings, not sure what I will do when they get old though. I cried twice this week because it was the 4yo fist taster session at big girl school and my baby boys first birthday. How I wish I could slow it all down.

Awwww magicmillbrook, I feel your pain.

Don't worry about alarming me, I'm still completely alarmed! I mucked out as many boxes as I could whilst I waited for her, filled haynets and then sat in the car watching the lane where they eventually would appear! Sad, I know.

More kids isn't an option, well physically it might be (although I was advised against it) but I really dont want anymore. And by that I mean I would be devastated if I happened to become pregnant! Definitely not on my agenda!!!

That's why best thing I could do is sort myself out and get me a pony! But I'm just bloody fat and out of shape!!!!

Guess I'll just have to be a bag of nerves then for now!!!

Good luck with your little uns! I remember those days well!!! :-).

Xxx

God I hate it when my daughter goes on a hack she has also started going out with a slightly older friend but I much prefer her going out with an adult. I try to keep myself busy but find I keep checking my watch and then thinking they should've been back by now. I much prefer her to be in the school where I can keep a watchful eye!
