Daughter and Dolly!!! ***jumping picture!!!**

Hi everyone,

Daughter has asked me to post this picture after a fab jumping lesson today!!

She read all your lovely comments last week, and wanted you to see how she got on today!!

So here it is!

It's been a year next month since we bought Dolly and this picture lets me know we did the right thing. Almost makes me slightly emotional....almost!!:o

Such a good pony. Love them both to bits :D

Well done she is looking fab! not at all bothered by dolly over jumping :) She will be out and about doing clear rounds before you know it.
Loving the black and red matchy theme.

Awe she is a cool child and as I'm guessing she is reading this I think she's a fab little rider too. :) We need more dolly updates!! :D
 
Wow, little Dolly looks like a serious jumping pony, ears pricked, front hooves neatly folded and well done to your daughter for sitting up, looking where shes going and not pulling Dollys mouth. I think with a bit more practise there could well be a few rosettes winging there way towards daughters bedroom wall. Didnt I say "onwards and upwards", she certainly seems to be doing the 'upwards" :)

MEGA proud, if not a little emotional tonight, maybe it's the wine!

They've come so far. Getting Dolly was a very good decision, one of the best I think! :D

I never thought we'd get where we are now. I'm not tempting fate and saying we don't have our off days, but watching them this morning, chucking it down with rain and Dolly keeps popping over them and daughter is grinning like a mad grinning thing. It just makes me completely and utterley happy.

Ha ha! Thanks Dafthoss!!!

She says thank you, but as above, she thinks that Dolly is the cool one! She always forgets how far she has come, one of those people that never see what they've achieved but always what they want to do next.

Me - I like to wallow in success a little longer, I have to as it's so rare!!!

Will work on the Dolly updates, but when everything is going well, it seems there's less to update about!! :D:D:D

It does seem to be what Dolly likes best! We were out in the sheeting rain last Sunday, just me and daughter and Dolly and a (very small because I was in charge!) jump and she just popped over them happily, not a care in the world. Ridiculous really - daughter grinning like a loon and I'm soaking but none of us could be happier!!

Lovely now that daughter can use Dolly's full potential (well not all of it yet) because before we knew she had a good jump in her, but daughter hadn't learnt that yet. She's taken to it very well I think, and loves every minute of it!!

You certainly did say onwards and upwards! As long as upwards doesn't get much more upwards eh!!!

She's gained a little weight over summer (so I'm told, but I don't see it to be honest!) wish we could shift that crest on her neck - don't know how to make that do.

But adding jumping to her regular work loud must help. She looks so much better than when we got her - a year ago next month, believe it or not!!

I have chilled out. It's the wine you see........:p

I drink more than I used to, which is strange as I have sooooo much less cash than before!!! My own fault. Bought HOYS tickets this week!!!

In all honesty, I trust daughter and Dolly now. Dolly is a good pony, but can be a bugger, but we tend to know her tricks now! And daughter is a great little rider (even if I do say so myself!!) and she handles Dolly well. I'm proud of them both, and that's chilled me out because I know Dolly's the right pony for daughter now! It helped a lot, daughter growing about half a foot in a week, earlier this year!!

Dolly was a riding school pony before, am I right?

She must think she's died and gone to heaven - I'm not detracting from riding schools at all because we all have to learn, and there are some fab schools that give their ponies a really nice life, but it must be great from her point of view to have gone from the work of a riding school to having one little person all of her own to really bond with and do fun stuff like jumps:)

Hi Spudlet!

Yes, Dolly was a riding school pony before.

She's now on working livery at a different (and rather fantastic!!) riding school. We kept her on working livery as originally, daughter could no way give her everything she needed in terms of exercise (and schooling).

She's used by the school for an hour a day, six days a week, and it's helped us so much. I hear the horror stories some people go through (both with livery yards, and riding schools) and I think myself so lucky that we have her at such a lovely place. Couldn't have gotten through the last year without all their help and support.

And of course, they've trimmed Dolly down and made her so much better schooled now.

Now that daughter has progressed so much, there is a temptation (and pressure from daughter!) to put her on full livery. But to be honest, given the standard of the school, I'm tempted to leave her on working livery. They "use" her 1 hour a day, 6 days a week, and to me that's valuable exercise that would put more pressure on us if we had to ensure she was worked, especially if she's (like me!) inclined to get fat if not exercised enough!

She has a lovely bond with daughter - and (we think) is noticably different towards her than anyone else. Also daughter does all the fun stuff on her, so I think she associates daughter with all the jumping, pony club stuff etc... (and we do lots of games on our own - cones etc...and round the world type games - keep it interesting for them!!) :D

I hope she's having a nice life with us now. She'll be with us forever (baring anything horrible happening) and we love her to bits!!
