Hi everyone!

Had an absolutely awesome day trip with Daughter and Dolly today, so thought I would share my almost bubbling over pride with you!

After an excellent school report (meeting all the targets set, and exceeding some) I booked an arena with working hunter jumps as treat for the two Ds!

Now everyone tells me that Dolly would do great at working hunter, except, Daughter has never jumped working hunter jumps! So we thought it was time for that to change!

Ohhh scroll back a couple of days. Meant to mention, Dolly has recently been one sweaty pony (thick coat, due to dodgy summer perhaps??) - so we decided that we'd have her clipped for the first time ever!!! I considered it last year, but decided that she didn't need go faster stripes  So on Monday she was clipped. She was perfect and seems much more comfortable now! However, a bit sharper!

She was her usual happy self travelling today - seems to love our van and really is a happy pony on our day trips! She was VERY well behaved!!! Even when daughter and I had our (mid headcollor to bridle changeover) moment of "have you got her? - NO", "have you got her? - NO", "Well who's got hold of her???", "Oh. OK. I've got her now!" :p:o Good girl Dolly!!!!

Actually she really is a treat to take places. The van is pretty much completely equipped all the time, OH is fab at collecting tack/water/passport/holding Dolly/driving/checking battery and tyre pressure etc..... REALLY top bloke!!! Daughter can load and unload herself and is more and more competent at travelling a pony anywhere! I'm almost a little redundant now!!! ;)

Back to the story......

We arrived at the arena, unloaded, tacked up and warmed up. Dolly was a star. She jumped a few "normal but rustic" jumps fine and then tried a few more solid jumps. Had a few refusals, but to be honest, they were quite half hearted - more "stop and gorp at the funny jumps" refusals! And we did have one high speed "bog off at gallop away from the roll top" moment, where daughter disappeared into the distance, giggling loudly!!!! BUT then we had a good few clear rounds!! VERY VERY proud mummy!!!! :D

Daughter was amazing too, using everything her instructors have told her to sit quietly and encourage Dolly over the jumps. I was ever so proud of her today. And she stayed on :p:D

Anyway, here's the good bit.....the photos......

Seriously, I can't believe what this pony has become. I'm ever so proud of them both. What a team. I want these days to last forever.....:o

Having orange flavoured matchsticks and pepsi with slice of lemon tonight.....you can have some too! Thanks for reading x x x :D

Thank you!

Daughter is 11, pony is 14. Daughter is very very petite (not yet 5 stone!) but has finally got a grip of this very strong little pony!!!!

They are extremely happy now, only cloud on the horizon is the possibility of outgrowing Dolly, but as we've decided to keep her forever, we're shelving that worry for now! :D

Looks like they had a great time. And well done to your daughter for such a good school report! I think Dolly's school report is going to be just as good!

Well done, they look great:)

Thank you!!

Well done D & D :D Lovely pics! I love Dollys rug, too. xx

Aww thanks, it's a great fit too! Got the matchy matchy boots and tail guard and saddle cover too!!!

So cute, love them!

Are you in the North West? That looks like Croft Top? Or does it just look similar to all other arenas!?

:D

Yep, we're in the North West, near Manchester! And it is Croft Top which is just a bob down the motorway for us!! Thanks! xxx

:D what a lovely post...daughter and dolly look like a great team and both look very happy... well done and keep the updates coming, and we still want to hear about your riding adventures as well!!!!!!

Definately!!! They are soooo happy, and so am I. Dolly has turned out to be a superstar!!! More of my riding adventures soon......:p

You had better have another R ;) Then when D is done with Dolly she can be passed down the family :D

hahahahaha......soooooooooo not happening!!!!! I don't know which scares me more - having another child, or getting another pony!!!! In any case, we'll go for the pony! :D

They have both come such a long way in a short time!! Well done to all of you.

Thank you lots!!! It's been 2 years now! Can you believe it!!!! I'm so glad we persevered - Dolly has turned out to be a real find. Who'd have thought it! :D

Didn't think of that! hahahaha!!! Thank you!!!! I'm really proud of daughter - in a couple of subjects she's already at the level she should be by next summer.....and tutor says the odd "authorised absence for important horsey show" day is ok with him :D

Thank you! xxx

Wow they are looking fab!! :D and so happy together. Well done to miniRM on the fab school report and for doing so well with dolly.

Yay, go d&d - both looking fab as ever and daughter is looking very grown up! Great report as usual and still looking forward to the heavily anticipated pics of redmone on horse ;-)

Ahhh my daughter is 9 but very tall for her age, and skinny as a rake. We lost her 11.2hh schoolmaster after he broke his leg in june, she was heartbroken but has found a new best pal in the shape of a very smart but very very whizzy and strong 13.2hh dun NF gelding. A lot more pony for her to ride and being so light she has to work so hard to sit on her bottom and hold him together! I have a horse too, but I get so much pleasure from taking my girly out competing and seeing her do well! How big is Dolly? She still looks great on her!
We were planning on keeping her first pony forever too but sadly it wasn't to be. She had started to look leggy on him but she weighed nothing so it wasn't a problem. My daughter has her eye on my 16.2hh now! She will have to grow a hell of a lot first lol!!

What a lovely report. I love reading your updates, the four of you seem like such a good team! MiniRM has a fantastic position and the last pic is so cute-you can feel the love!!

Lovely photos.

All 3 of you should be so so proud...I remember your very first posts, and I'll admit, was one of the ones saying to question about Dolly was the right pony for you. I'm so so glad time and great riding and patience from your daughter [and Mum!] have made things end up in such a brilliant way like this post!

Congrats. I love reading your posts.
:D

I too love the daughter and dolly updates. Photos are fab, you can really see how much they have improved! Well done!

:D
there both lovely, your daughters smile says it all :)

It does doesn't it! They make such a good team!!! :)

Wow they are looking fab!! :D and so happy together. Well done to miniRM on the fab school report and for doing so well with dolly.

Thanks DH!!! Was REALLY chuffed with them today! :D

love your pics! What a lovely lovely mummy you are, D&D are both lucky girlies. Super position D has over the fences too :D

Awwww shucks! I'm not really!!! I can be a right witch when I want to be! I'm a bit of a stickler for jobs being done before fun, which drives daughter mad! She wants to come in from school, chill out and do jobs later, whereas I'm more "everything gets done now then we play"!!! I believe in discipline and self control (see I am a witch!) but then utter utter carnage for fun afterwards!!!! I hope I steer her right....can only try my best :)

ps thanks re daughter's position, got to say, I didn't give much thought to it at the time but watching the videos back, yes, she did ride very nicely actually! :D

Thank you! She is getting very grown up isn't she!! We're all certain that the next 12 months are going to be the best!!! Photos of me - not happening!!!! :D

Hi! Dolly is a full up 12.2hh. We measured her recently (crap, novicey us measuring with a tape, so not to be relied on) and we easily got 12.3hh. I'd love to have her measured properly. Such a shame re your 11.2hh pony, I REALLY can't imagine what you went through. So sorry for your loss. I know what you mean about them being light and struggling to hold them together. Daughter has been very lucky in growing her legs to help her! Dolly just used to ignore her and bog off!!! :D

What a lovely report. I love reading your updates, the four of you seem like such a good team! MiniRM has a fantastic position and the last pic is so cute-you can feel the love!!

Thank you! :D

I just love reading your D&D updates.

Your daughter looks so confident - and competent - and Dolly looks like she's enjoying herself too. You must be very (and justifiably) proud :D:D:D

I am very proud, and was massively so yesterday. Thank you! :D

I was going to say is that Croft Top! Well done indeed - fab pics :)

Yes, it was Croft Top. Arena was brill and jumps were fantastic! :D

Lovely photos.

:D

Thank you!!! I was also one questioning whether Dolly was right for us :o it really could have gone either way. Daughter growing helped a lot, but being looked after so well by our yard and daughter's instructors, played a massive part. Dolly has been much better too since we got our van, strangely! She loves getting out and about!!! It has taken a lot of patience, but days like yesterday make me feel like we've got "there"!!!! :D

I too love the daughter and dolly updates. Photos are fab, you can really see how much they have improved! Well done!

Thank you! x x x

Lovely pics and a great update as usual they look fab together.:)

Awwww thanks loads! Everyone is so kind to us! :D
