Daughter and Little Dolly update!! ***PICS***

I am so so pleased things are working out. Those early days are a nightmare aren't they when every little thing seems such a big thing.
So you next then?
I know what you mean about watching. My grandaughter got tanked off with in a lesson last weekend. While I am busy having a heart attack :) she ended up on ponies neck and proudly announced "that was fun". Oh how I wish I had the fearlessness of a 9 yr old.

I know what you mean completely!!!

Can't believe I made such a fuss about things that seem funny now! Bit embarrasing actually, but it was a steep learning curve!

Dolly had a yeee-haaaa moment last week, when she decided she was bored with leg-yielding! Did like a hop in the air and cantered off - first time ever, I laughed! Daughter was grinning like a fool whilst charging round the indoor! Lovely to have got to that point!!

We definately worry more than they do!!! :D

Thats far from a boring update! Its fab- Its such a great feeling when your child is finally getting places and you feel able to relax a bit!

Dolly is gorgeous! I think i do remember reading one or two posts from you in the past- maybe when you first got her and things were not so great so its really lovely that all has improved!

Well done to your daughter!

What a lovely update :D I'm so glad things are working out for you, your daughter and Dolly. Keep the updates coming and deff post the first jumping pics. Seeing your daughter jump may shame me into jumping (I'm such a whimp ;) :p :D )

Aw brilliant news.... I think you were considering pony club last time, (and being egged on) did this come to fruition, and if so do you think it has helped too?

Either way all looks and sounds like it is going the right way... look forward to the next update :-)

I am so glad that everything seems to have clicked for you, Daughter and Dolly! I remember all your earlier threads and the tone now seems to be so much happier :) Onwards and upwards, hope Daughter has fun learning to jump! Is Dolly still being used in the RS?

What lovely happy faces in photo's. Given me hope as my daughter had her 2nd pony last September and we are struggling big time. Can only hope for a success story. :)

Thanks!!

Really hope it works out for you too!! How old if your daughter?

At least the better weather is on it's way. I'm glad we got through winter as well as we did :D

Lovely. Both look so completely happy now. I'm glad to have been proved wrong. :)

Hi Binky!

I never say never, but I'm glad you have too!!

Could have gone either way to be fair, I'd say we've been very lucky, but it's more down to the excellent help we've had along the way, and very very good advice!!

Daughter did first little jump tonight on Dolly!! I'd have paid the price of the pony just to see the smile daughter had on her face!!! :D:D

Lovely pictures, Dolly looks a cracking pony, I can't believe how much longer your daughter's legs are, that must be helping her lots! The great thing is that because Dolly has a bit more about her than some small ponies, your daughter will have fun with her for ages. Well done to you all.

I know!!! She's grown a little, but I think also stretching down a bit more! Remember when we got Dolly and daughter's legs hardly cleared the side of the saddle!!! Being able to carry/use the crop helped lots too. Hardly needs it now - occasionally to encourage Dolly to canter if she's being a bit lazy, but nothing like before.

Well that's the good thing about Dolly - she should be all the pony daughter needs for years and years. She's a fab jumper, just need daughter to catch up with her, but I've been told it's easier to learn on a pony that can jump well as you can concentrate on yourself a bit more. Sounds like a plan
:D

I remember your other posts, you sound much more chilled out about it all, amazng what a few months ownership can do. Pleased they are getting on well

Do it do it do it!!!! Go on, you know you can!!!

Daughter is raring to go! Did her first little jump tonight - biggest smile EVER!!! :D

Hi!!!

She joined pony club, and has done lots of badges and just tonight got her Bronze level 3, so she's pleased! But a few months ago, she was picked for the pony club quiz team for our stables, which she absolutely loved!!! They got pasted by the other teams (had NO idea how seriously it was taken, and little time to prepare!!!) but she loved it and was a great experience. She's hoping to be picked again in the future!

She's not done any PC stuff away from the stables yet, but we'll see what the summer brings......
:D

Yes, things are great now. I'm so proud of them both and I'm loving it myself too!!!

Dolly is still on the riding school, and it's done her the world of good. No way daughter could have given her the exercise she needed to shift some weight (still a chunky pony, but looks much healthier now). Also it's helped massively with some of the schooling issues we used to have.

She's got a little fan club of kids who like riding her, and I think she's quite a favourite. They're all very nice to her, and are generally friends of my daughter, so it's nice to know they look after her when we're not there.

:D

Yes, feeling much better about everything now! Even getting my nerves in check!

First tiny jump tonight - me - totalling chilled, no worries!!!

Just wish I'd not wasted so much time in the early days stressing about everything!

I'm never happy not knowing what I'm doing with something - it sends me into a panic. I'm a bit of a control freak (OK, a lot of one!:o) and I don't really like depending on other people too much. I've still got lots and lots to learn, but I'm happy now we can groom, tack up, school and do day to day stuff on our own. Love the RS people to bits, but I do like being self sufficient - I don't like being a burden and like learning stuff!!!

Did my first plaits a few weeks ago - should have seen the state of them!!! But I loved it!

:D

sounds like its getting better and better. Big well done to daughter for jumping can we have some pics soon??........please?? :D
Sound like its going well though, before you know it you will be putting jumps up every where and building grids for daughter and dolly :D

How lovely to hear some good news from you - so glad that things have worked out well after all the traumas and the sticky start with this pony. Your daughter has certainly grown into Dolly - her legs clear the saddle flaps now!

With the summer around the corner, I'm sure they're both going to have a lot of fun.

Well done.
