Hi everyone!

Well I promised an update and here it is!!!

But rather than prattle on, I think pictures speak louder than words, so I'll post the pics and let you make your own mind up on their progress!

(don't know how many I'm allowed to post, so hope I don't get in trouble)

Here they are:

I'll post more if someone could tell me how many is ok now!

What do we think?? :D

Hope everyone is happy on this lovely sunny morning!

Krispy Kreme donuts for anyone that comments! :D:D:D

I'm afraid you are severely and punishably contravening the NL Pics rule. You put ***PICS*** instead of *lots* and only put two up. Totally unacceptable.

I love Dolly :)

To keep TFC happy, you really ought to put them in the Picture Gallery (and then put a link in every other Forum so we all know they are there... ;) )

And poop!!! I don't know how to move threads!! But I wanted them here because more people come on here!! :p

Was going to post another pic then....but that might make it worse! What do you think? :)

Is there much difference between a little bit naughty and a little bit more naughty ;)

I love Dolly too!! She's a great pony and we're so happy with her. :D

:D

Aww they're doing so well. Post more photos in picture gallery? And keep this one here? How is your daughter getting on with jumping? They look fab, I love the first photo!

Not grumpy just quizzical!

and just start another thread, with LOTS AND LOTS of pictures!

I am so pleased to hear all is well. :-)

Has your daughter grown? I have noticed it's a habit children seem to have:p

Bless them, they look like they're starting to forge a proper little partnership - also, excellent hi-vizing skills:D

Pleased to hear all is still going great. They look really happy together. Just goes to show that it doesn't happen overnight and perseverence pays off in the end. Well done to daughter and Dolly - and of course you too.

Many more pictures are needed though!

Ah they look so happy together!!! any time there is ever a hiccup look at that first pic it is fab! Daughter def looks taller and a bit stronger. What a fab summer you are going to have!

Fantastic picture they both look so happy. Dolly looks as if she is saying "see I'm a good girl really :)" so pleased it is going so well. Please put another thread in the Picture Gallery with loads more pics :) I want to see!!

What a difference time makes, they both look fab together now :). Just one little thing - the stirrup irons look like they could be a bit small now in the photo, could you check or get the yard staff to check for you as you might need to get hold of some bigger ones (should be about 1/2" space either side of her foot).

Love the pics. She just looks like one of those ultra cool ponies that will do a bit of everything and your daughter looks like she'll be riding her for many years yet which is great. Aww, I loved my first pony, once you get that bond it's just great!

Hiya!

Sorry for the slow reply, MAD day at work and then of course, stables afterwards, then tescos, then tea....you get the idea!

Wine now :D

Thanks for commenting!! Jumping hasn't really started yet, she's hoping that she'll do a bit in her lessons, I'm sure it'll happen when the RS feel she's ready - she's quite eager now (wasn't before, was quite happy plodding along, but now the cantering is coming on ok, I suppose it's the natural next step!) but she's being very patient.

We've been hacking out as much as we can, and she actively looks for things to jump now  I should be as fit as a very fit thing, as I'm hacking on foot, but alas, my arse is still as huge as it was!!! :o

I'll do another post in picture gallery soon!!!

Thanks again :D

Thanks re the hi-viz! Still trying best to do everything right!!! :)

Yes, she's definately grown, she no longer has that "pea on a mountain" looK! Add to that that I think Dolly has lost weight, or at least has gotten in better shape and I think they're about right for each other now.

I think they look great now. Daughter has much more control and strength, and incredible sticking power sometimes too!!! Those velcro pants have been a godsend :p
:D

BIG thank you!!!

Perseverence is definately the key. And I'm a bit of a research addict myself, so any problem we encounter, I'm straight into the books or on the net. I've bought Kelly Marks - Good Manners book, which I'm liking at the moment.

But the help I gained from HHO made all the difference, it kept me going when we were really struggling and I was worried we're made the wrong choice.

Dolly is just great, a top pony. :D

A little too much wine tonight to risk posting pictures (who knows what I'd post!!! ;))

You're right about the "I'm a good girl really" look - she tries that on me often!!!

:D

Both look so happy! I am so glad they managed to overcome their initial little niggles and build such a great partnership!

The lovely thing is, they have this great bond which keeps getting better.

She is different for daughter than other riders, which I wondered whether that would happen as she's on working livery, but everyone says she is. It's lovely.

She's got a weird bond with me too. She's sometimes really grumpy with me in the stable (really grumpy ) but when daughter's finished riding in the indoor, she'll have her on a long rein (no rein!) and Dolly follows me around like a puppy!!! Literally weaving in and out of things to follow me. Yet she acts like she wants to eat me in her stable!!

Strange mare!! BUT lovely nonetheless!!! I like it anyway, makes me feel wanted!! :D

And thanks for the advice. Going tack shop on Saturday, so will have a word then.

:)

Fab fab!!
Brilliant that they got out hacking while we have this beautiful weather!! :)
*toddles off to PG to see more pictures!*

Hi!

They've been out sooooo much, it's lovely. It's our favourite thing at the moment!!!

Will do a PG thread soon, promise!! :D

Nice to hear from you, hope Kelly is doing good (sounds like she is!)

Yes she is super cool!!! Always keeps things interesting!!! Daughter has entered herself into a dressage competition in a few weeks  but that's not really Dolly's "things" so we'll see how that goes!!! I'm going to turn them out as best I can, and have told her to smile smile smile, hopefully that will make up for any bloopers!!! She loves to jump, so daughter is eager to get to the point where she can do that, she just needs to catch up with Dolly!!!

The idea was always to get her a pony which would last her, as daughter is one of those very emotional little girls that could no way let go of an outgrown pony. She cries frequently because Red Rum is dead! And cried because of the Grand National horse deaths. I'm sure you get the idea!!!

Anyway, because she's so petite it was either a pony like Dolly or something much smaller. I did wonder if we've done the right thing, and Dolly's occasional grumpiness didn't help, but we know her ways now, and that helps a lot. We love her to bits and I'm constantly trying to understand more so that I can show daughter.

I wouldn't swop her for the world. Love her to bits :D:D:D
