Get something that is rideable now. That will give her something to focus on. If finances are a worry then keeping Beau is not really a practical option - just one that will result in her giving up horses anyway. It is a valuable life lesson that money doesnt grow on trees and that sacrifices have to be made. How old is your daughter?
I was very lucky to get my first pony so was well aware that having two wasnt an option. When the time came, I was sorry to see my first pony go but life goes on. Only now can I really understand the reality of how expensive ponies/horses are to keep and how much of a sacrifice my parents had made to allow me to keep one. In no way will it ruin your daughter's life nor negatively affect it so I wouldnt let that sway your decision. The heartbreak honestly doesnt last. Having a new pony ready to ride to focus on will take her mind off Beau - mind you it will want to be the perfect pony! ;) Good luck!!

I cried buckets when we decided to sell my first pony. He was outgrown , unsuitable, dangerous and a complete nutter and only 5. I loved him to bits and he was my best friend. Then my aunt sold me her home bred 14.2hh who was amazing to ride, not so loving in stable. I have the best times of my life on my Holly pony. We still have herr and she is 26 this year. It was the best decision to sell the first pony even though it hurt a lot. It helped that I had Holly while the first pony was advertised and sold though. Could you keep Beau til you find a new on then let your friend have him?

This was the same with me, I was DEVASTATED when we sold Maisie (my first horse) But we sold her because she was dangerous and only 7 but i loved her, I wont forget her but i'm glad we sold her as we now have Foxy who is perfect! I understood because she was dangerous BUT i think you should keep Beau because he is her best friend, let her choose xxx

When we delivered daughters pony 2 hrs away she didn't shed a tear, just said 'its not like she's dead is it'!! She had the pony 4yrs from a 4yr old and produced her to junior Fox and represented Cornwall at BS so its not like they didn't get on.
So i supposed i am lucky that she has a very business like head on her (she would have the pony back tomorrow though, blue roan in my sig)

You haven't mentioned how old your daughter is, but is there any way you could explain the options to her and the reasons why.

Is there a riding school local to you as she may be able to help out there at weekends that way she could make friends there? That way she could keep Beau and maybe make new friends by helping out at the riding school?

I've always been one to work myself up over the thought of losing/selling a horse/dog/cat etc but feel better once they've gone. It's a tought one because i couldnt imagine losing my best friend. But everything happens for a reason is how i think :)
