Has anyone been and knows what it was like?
I have qualified as of today in the 75cm class - we jumped a double clear to come 2nd - I am very pleased with Jenny as she went like a total star and its only our 3rd show in over 2 years.
Anyway as I'm in the NE of the country and the final is right down in the SW I just wondered if its worth registering and going. Also does anyone know when the final actually is as it doesn't say on the paperwork I've got. I'd like to know I could get the time off work before getting excited about going.
I'm annoyed at myself because we qualified in the dressage last week but I told the lady at the event not to bother filling in the card as I probably wouldn't go but now we've qualified SJ I would of gone down to do both - assuming they are held on the same weekend.
Anyway if anyone's been I'd love to hear what its like and whether you think its worth my while going.
Thanks, AJ

First of all well done to you for coming second, and qualifying for champs, there is a website for cricklands (David Broom centre). We went about 3yrs ago now and had a wonderfull time, came 4th overall and there was 350 competitors, if you can treat it as a holiday, camp or sleep in box, stable your horse, good food, and entertainment on the nightimes, even better if you have a friend to go with share the expence, the stressage isn't held the same w/end, i would recommend you go as we had a wonderfull time

I have been on numerous occasions either spectating or competing once at dressage. I can only agree with Cliperty that the facilities are fabulous, great atmosphere, parties in the clubhouse every night and a great holiday away with your horse. Go on the Cricklands website which will tell you all you need to know. Good luck.

CP - Well done coming 4th - how on earth do they accommodate all those people! The classes must be huge so you did very well to get 4th.
L - Will definitely look up the website and make my mind up then.

Hi there

Went with my old boy for SJ Winter League finals, he ditched me on floor in first championship and we won the other!! (came 5th overall in our section).

Well worth every penny, you will have great time and people are all very friendly and welcoming. It is well run so be sure to be on time at the ringside etc.

It is the best of all the qualifiers around and like I say, VERY good value for money and great experience all round.

I am off again with a friend in three weeks time YAY...on the downside it will be last time my oldie SJ's as i am retiring him from the ring at 27!!

and dont be under any impression you have to be a world beater, its fun, yes there are fast ones there but overall the steady clears to better!! Whole range of people go, so dont fee intimidated, its great laugh!

Thanks for the link.
Unfortunately steady clears don't come naturally to Jenny -LOL. She's a bit fast and furious! I am working so hard to try to sort this out and this weekend although she went very fast she wasn't at all tense and went fab - I am very lucky in that although she rushes a bit she still makes a good shape over the jump and is very careful. But in the Jump Off she still isn't quite balanced enough to make tight turns so we don't tand to get placed anywhere.
I've noticed the final is on 10-12th of August - it was on the paperwork after all so its not far off and I'm not working that weekend so....... seriously considering it.

if the link does not work go to bsja- shows-then go to wales & west and there is a link on there for cricklands. this was our first stay away show over 4 years ago. we went for two years both winter and summer champs. loved every minute of it . my daughter is now jumping senior bsja. and the most fun we had was at these un-aff shows we all which we could go back to that level. go and enjoy
