Davy Russell Retires

A legend of the jumps world has hung up his boots today. Best known for his association with Tiger Roll he was as tough as nails when he was fixed but he has had many impressive injuries over the years. I am glad he retires in one piece and can walk away on his own terms. Not something everyone in this game gets to do.

Amazing career, and good to see him go out "whole". I really don't know how they do it.

Man of Iron and reading the write up on Racing Post it is his 5 children that pushed him. He wants to spend time with them.

And he's back ? Jack Kennedy has broken his leg for the 5th time so Davey is back to ride for Elliott and Gigginstown.

I can literally hear him saying 'Jack's f*cked? Hold my beer....'

It's a bit of a shame for Jordan Gainsford etc who probably thought they'd suddenly got a full book of Cheltenham rides, but you can't turn down experience. It was a horrid fall - to be honest I thought it might have been worse than a broken leg.

Poor Davy has had a nasty fall and has been stood down for the day, he did walk away so not as bad as some of his falls have been, fingers crossed he is ok
