Any more updates on Davy?

Heard something about a spontaneous lung injury on C4, apparently not related to his fall. Sounds like a spontaneous pneumothorax to me. He doesn't fit the bill exactly for the type of patient you would expect to see but he does tick a few boxes.

Fingers crossed both for him and JT McNamara to recover fully.

Earlier, jockey Davy Russell was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital with a punctured lung, which rules him out of riding leading contender Sir Des Champs in the Gold Cup on Friday.
The 34-year-old, who rode the horse to victory at last year's festival, was injured in a fall from Un Beau Matin at the last in Wednesday's Coral Cup.
He had the injury drained in hospital and took up his first two rides on Thursday, but the problems resurfaced and Russell returned to hospital.

Above from BBC news, tough ******!

Sounds to me like he might have broken a couple of ribs and they may have cut his lung open.

Spontaneous pneumothoraces (pneumothorax = air trapped in chest cavity) don't really occur with an injury. They happen usually when there's a weakness at the top of a lung which gives way spontaneously, and leaks air. You would expect to see these in tall, young men who are of a slender build. Don't know how tall he is, but he fits the bill otherwise.

If what I just proposed is indeed the case, he's made of stern stuff to cope with a rib break that severe! I would also think that he definitely should not ride if it's the case, things would just get worse.

You never know, both scenarios might have occurred simultaneously. Just have to wait and see what the news comes out with later.
