day of 2 halves:Swallowfield BD

Yes definitely, not out until 11th August but will let you know how we get on with it :) Its meant to settle and relax their stomachs - I think SpottedCat uses it on her horse (I could be wrong though) and he previously suffered from ulcers. I know someone on here uses it with sucess!

I use protexin they are one of my sponsors.

Don't use the tube clamers, but D is on their 'acid ease' product and he's so settled and relaxed on it. He also does the sudden with NO warning bolt upright, but not since being on this. My mother also has a VERY grumpy and opinionated WB and he's on it and it makes him so much nicer.

I would strongly recommend you give the 'acid ease' a go, what have you go to lose?... :)

re his condition-ive been on hol for a week and although NMT kindly worked him a few times, it wasnt the same level of work, and he does drop muscle quickly so that could be it.

'Worked him'....in the lightest sense possible :p Me with my mental legs 'CHANGE.....aaaaand CHANGE...ch...chaaa.....CHANGE' and he somehow figured out what I meant!!

Think the entire encounter was more of a workout for me than him :o

Well done on the AM and fingers crossed you can get him sussed again so the PSG will be back where it can be.

He is definatly looking more tb like in the photos which is the first time in a long time he has.

Failing that maybe he heard that YP is dressing up as a ninja later this week and he wanted to join in so started practicing :p

the protexin stuff looks good as its also got heavy magnesium in it, which is good for barefoot :) he's still on omeprazole currently and dont want to go OTT but when he comes off it, will try the protexin, thanks :)

do think you could be on to something with trying a shorter warm up so am going to do that this sun and will report back, perhaps he dropped a bit of fitness whilst i was away and felt tired.

Bloss was off games totally for a week and on box rest as she had cellulitis and mud fever (badly poor old bird!) anyway when I started riding her again middle of last week she had definitely lost some fitness even in such a short space of time. Its only taken a week to get it back but I eased her in gently the first couple of days, just doing stretching and transitions and built it up from there. So maybe he did just find it harder if hes had an easier week with NMT than he would normally.

Good luck with the shorter warmup, hope it goes well :)

Quick Q - I know the weather is lovely and all that, but did you warm up in a quarter sheet (as he's not wearing one in the photos) - as you said that made a huge difference before? I don't think you can get him too hot as they acclimatised the eventers to Beijing by galloping them in rugs in the middle of summer!

ETA - I would also agree he's dropped off over his quarters a bit too - perhaps he would like some of the 'working hunter' look my TB eventer is currently rocking?!

it shouldnt, but it makes me laugh (a little bit, i can scowl and laugh at same time!).

Best way to be!! In fact IMO it's the only way to be, if you get too cross/wound up about it they just feel the pressure next time and are even worse.

Well done on the AM score!

Well Done on the AM, fab score :D

Well sat in the PSG, jeez you've got some stickability :p

I also agree that he def looks like he's lost topline, especially on his hindquarters, so I'm guessing he just found it hard after an easier week :)

How fustrating! Just when you though you had stuff sussed. Sounds like you have lots to work on/try based on the ^ so I hope something works for your next PSG attempt!

He looks great and very happy in the AM photos and I do rather like the 1 PSG pic ;)
Best of luck on Sunday.

foxy1-thanks, hadnt heard of that so will add to list to try when he comes off the omeprazole :) both that and protexin sound worth a shot.

SC-no, no 1/4 sheet as last time it was this hot he didnt need it and went amazingly (witham villa),and he already had a light sweat when we arrived (which is the stage i aim to get him to when i rug him when its cold, in light of possible muscle issue).

will try and get confo/condition pics at vale on sun too, as well as moving, so you can all see if you think he's put back on or dropped off more (praying for former).

quick update-prodded and poked before and after riding and cant find any tender spots................and he's been fab yesterday and today, really forward, probably best canter HP he's ever done and not a single grump, so i just dont think its feed/ulcer related as if his tummy is sore he goes really tight and backwards, and asking for more in the lateral work will set him off.
really think the new feed is suiting him, so will get pics sun and see what you all think condition wise :)
