In Dec 2011 a 24 yo pony at our yard had a very bad tear to his DDT. He was on box rest for 4 months then allowed short periods of turnout building up to prolonged periods out.
In Oct 2012 he had an ultrasound on the damaged tendon which showed the fibres had knitted back together nicely so the vet declared him sound for ridden work.
My only concern is when he is trotted, he often nods his head like he is lame; but he'll happily gallop round the field like a yearling.
Am I just being overcautious?
