Hello, basically my horse (who is on loan) has just been diagnosed with DDSP, there is a specialist coming up on Wednesday to do an endoscopy to further assess and discuss options etc. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any further insight into DDSP and treatment options etc. There has been talk of surgery yet with only 60% success rate, I was wondering what will be the effects if nothing was done or are there any alternative treatments bits etc. I may be being totally naive but I have no knowledge about this and have only had snippets of info from the loaner as to what the vets have said etc. It's more concerning as he has never showed signs of it before yet I was told he was being galloped up a field the other day and stopped, as it seems is often the case with DDSP to get his breath back and he was making a gurgling sound. This has only happened once, but looking back he has at times made grunting sort of noises when working but nothing that has caused alarm before. Vet came and said there is no infection etc and his heart and lungs are in excellent condition. He is fit and competing and looks well in every other way. Any replies or help would be greatly appreciated.
