De gogues

It may be me (or maybe I have never put a degogue on right before) but they have attached that wrong on the picture. as they say in the description is is supposed to go back to the girth but in stead they have clipped it to the reins???? maybe I am an idiot and have never used mine right, but I did take advice when I bought it and they said it doesnt make contact with the reins and u have a triangle in the middle from girth to pole through bit to girth again! Was I told right or is the pic right?

The picture is of a De Gogue being used in "ridden" mode rather than lunging mode. You are right in that when you are lunging it makes a triangle shape and goes back to the girth but when you are riding with it it is as per the picture shown.

A Market Harborough does not go up to the poll, it comes from the girth, through the bit rings and then attaches onto the D's on the Market Harborough reins.

A question then: what on earth do you do with the martingale-like straps if you attach de gogue in the riding mode?

The martingale like straps come from the girth, then attach to one end of the "ropes", the ropes then run through the poll attachment, down through the bit rings and the other end attaches to the reins. In the lunging mode instead of attaching the other end of the ropes to the reins, you clip them back onto the ring of the martingale attachment.
