All routine as usual, except ponies were not waiting for their feed this afternoon, they were having too much fund digging in the snow. Thanks to the snow they have decided to eat the section of the field they normally ignor as it has a lot of reeds which this week seem to have become very tasty!

Don't poo pick the big field, only stable paddock, but no chance today to see anything as snow quite thick and covered everything!

Yep. We scrape the fields in spring, then harrow.
No way am I digging about in snow for months in minus temps. I have better things to do with my time rather than pick up after 20 odd horses , what's that? 200+ piles a day? Forget that.

Snow that covers where the poos are (which we get a lot in the Cairngorms) is the only thing that stops me poo picking, but I do go and collect it all as soon as the snow is gone. It doesnt get hot enough here (or most of UK) for harrowing etc to be effective, except possibly in blazing summer (whatever that is).

Great until it hits a rut and topples. I don't poo pick when they're in big fields, it gets harrowed in spring. If they're in 3 acres of less then yes - otherwise I have better things to do with my time!

Used the sledge 4 years never toppled once. Does not take me long as using half the land about 1/2hr - 3/4 have tractor but in wet weather churns the field.
I can't leave my fields one day to me its no different than leaving a stable un mucked out. I make their beds nice and clean so why not their play area seems odd ,seeing the fields round here covered in poo all the time looks messy and unkempt IMO.
I know most leave it specially round here they don;t bother. It is nice getting feedback from other people or circulating comments that we have the best or one of the best grazing locally.
I refuse to have grass liveries so the parts and diy's benefit from the grazing , each to their own.
