De-sensitisation injections

hi has anybody used de-sensitisation injections for their horse and stopped? My mare has been on these injections for the last 2 years for her allergy to grass, midges, wheat and willow. I use a topical oil on her mane and tail, she continued to itch until about 6 weeks ago when I started to use stopitch and another herbal supplement in her feed. Would you carry on with the injections? she is very good when I am giving her the injection but is getting worse with each one as she knows what i am doing. any thoughts would be appreciated or has anyone stopped and used herbal supplements instead. thanks.

I rode a horse that suffered from a respiratory allergy every summer. The owner spent a fortune at one of these 'allergy clinics' and gave the injections for ages but they made absolutely no difference whatsoever.

It was a complete waste of time and money in her case.

I had my horse allergy tested but didnt have the injections done.. Sounds stupid I know to go 'half way' but I was hoping the test would show up something simple but it didnt, it showed he had positive allergys to a few remote things and lots of borderline positives also to obscure things. If it had shown up say midges then I would have considered it. My horse was positive to alfalfa and wheat so I just fed him feeds without this in which was a nightmare finding them. It didnt make any difference at all to him so hes back on normal feed now.

I have two ponies on these monthly jabs, and this is year 2, but I'm going to stop them. I've adjusted feed etc according to what they were allergic to but have no improvement in symptons at all. I have found some antihistamines which help the headshaker with his allergies but nothing I do for the itchy pony helps. Insurance won't pay any longer so I think I'm better spending my money in pursuing alternative remedies than continuing.
