how can people be so cruel and discuting to a poor dog

Stories like this make me despair and quite honestly make me feel like crying. That poor dog, all i think if is how distressed she must have been. She'd have been better off just being dumped - at least she could have sourced some food/water. What a despicable thing to do to an animal

I could not bear to listen to the news item. I hope they catch the culprit and put them on a 500 cal diet for about 6 weeks.

WHY do people do it? Why not take it into a animal rescue centre that is just so easy to do? are they thick or what they must realise that they have so many options if they dont want a dog anymore. argh. Hope they get what they deserve.

OMG THIS MAKES ME REALLY ANGRY !!!
i cant write down what i really think of the person that did this but please let something really bad happen to them (PREFERABLY INCREDABLY PAINFUL).

cant help thinking if it was cheaper to pts maybe they would've then again its free to give away to a dogs home

and of course i may actually be crediting this person with some brains or even some compassion. which they clearly didn't have.

Lost for words. I hope whoever did this dies in agony....though it won't do anything to alleviate what this poor dog suffered. I wonder if this is another case of someone stealing a dog and torturing to hurt the owner? I too agree that at least dumping would have given her a chance. I don't believe anyone would be so cruel without a motive of some sort. But maybe I just can't imagine it. Sick, sick, sick. RIP little girl. No creature deserves that - except whoever did this to her.

I'm still thinking about this . . .
i have a few questions if anyone know the answers.
why did no one see or hear this dog surely it would've made some noise.
how did someone have the mental capacity to leave it there and not change their mind or at least report it anonymously.

and god almighty how i wish the poor little dog had chewed through the rope/lead/material and escaped !!
and the thought that someone could ve done this to hurt the owner makes me sick to the stomach

the sooner they bring licensing back and link t to micro chips the better IMO. probably better i dont say any more on the subject or i will be getting banned.

Poor wee mite.

TBH I hear dogs whining all the time near me, you dont for a moment consider that some sick oik has left them to die. You just think 'Silly dog's whining to go in the house' or something of that ilk.

Sadly this will continue to happen. Nothing will stop it, you will always have sick bastards and you will always have animals.

The person who did this clearly didn't dump the dog out of desperation, they meant that dog to die there. If I desperately needed rid of a dog - guess what I'd do...

Tie it outside the local DogsTrust in the dead of night, with food, water and a note. Simple.

I have to say I do think the same as kickandshout - how did the RSPCA find this dog at all? If someone just 'happened' across it you'd have thought surely someone must have known it was there before that too?

I sincerely hope this isn't a case of the RSPCA ignoring anyone's concerned calls etc. Mind you, I guess had anyone found the dog there alive beforehand surely they would have rescued it?

It still makes me feel sick.

Absolutely dreaful! What sicko would do something like that? Good grief...At least the lovely pup is at rest and can no longer be tormented....

QR that poor little dog. I am already upset tonight after losing another of my older ferrets today and then after reading that story the tears started to flood again

Sick, sick bastards whoever is responsible for doing that to that poor dog. Death by starvation is probably one of the most painful ways for any animal to die, especially for a domesticated pet which has been used to being fed routinely.
I can only imagine the suffering that poor bitch endured as she was tied there left to die with no food within reach. To read that she had tried to eat soil and wood to sustain herself is heart rendering

The bloody person who did this should be hung, drawn and quartered, not necessarily in that order either.
As people have already said. If the owner was having difficulties then seek help. Take the dog to a rescue centre or if you are going to dump an animal like that at least have the 'heart' to do it somewhere where the animal has a good chance of being found!
It makes me very, very angry to read stories like that. But it goes on and on and there doesn't seem to be any sign that this will be stamped out, ever. People never change do they. We will always have the 'sicko's within society because unfortunately we don't have the laws and punishments that prove enough of a deterrent to deter people from doing this kind of thing.

It was the SSPCA not the RSPCA. I have had dealings with both (as in reporting things) and the SSPCA have always been pretty good. Have called them on 4 occassions and every time have been out within 2 hours. The RSPCA however, were not so good. The SSPCA operate solely in Scotland and are a totally separate charity to the RSPCA - they are England and Wales only.

Anyway, the dog was found in remote place by a farm worker. A bit more news here but be warned, the picture is more graphic and upsetting. The dog was muzzled so there was no way she could have chewed her lead. This was obviously deliberate and whoever did it wanted to cause a lot of suffering.

Lucretia - I totally agree with you on that one.

Muzzled. WTF.

Honestly I wonder if we are all a little bit neanderthral because the feelings that well up in me hearing that are nothing short of murderous.

I don't understand how no-one saw it. It was in a public place!

Scotland isn't as populated as England - you could walk all day in some areas and not meet anyone.
