Dead Lamini - Abcess - anyone any advice?

Has anyone had an abcess caused by dead lamini in the sole of a hoof that had a rotation?

Did you save the horse? had it gone to far etc

Poor horse and you, not much advice but if there is an abcess,as soon as it's drained,he should feel much better and start putting weight on poorly foot. Just keep fingers and everything else crossed. An abcess can cause so much pain,no wonder the poor lad didn't want to put weight on it,get your farrier to drain it as vets are useless at it they tend to take too much foot away.

Several years ago,knew someone who had this with a donkey. The farrier cut the absess out,it caused an awful lot of blood and pus everywhere from what I recall. It lived about 5 years after prolonged treatment.

It's a natural part of the recovery for the hoof to abscesse, necrotic tissue from the attack has to get out somehow.
