NOTE - shes going the vets tomorow morning.... shes NOT in pain (that we can see)... i did ring the emergancy vets but at £125 and shes not in pain it can wait until tomorow morning.

Anyhow. said dog is 4.... has mild elbow displasia (diagnosed at a good referal hospital last year)... had CT scans etc.. (not on back leg where the problem now lies)

She displayed some lameness last year on the back left leg but nothing majorly significant... however a few days ago (now i think of it...) she was more "tender" on the back leg - then this morning i get up and find her tail is limp from around 2/3 inches down - this has happend before (after swimming - "swim tail" - ) which recovered in around 24/48 hours....

But this time she hasnt been near water.... nor done anymore exercise than normal... again - shes not in pain - but just thoroughly p*ssed off....

Any ideas??? i know your not vets but experienced dog owners sometimes have more ideas before the vets.......

My akita had this once for a week, she spins around when excited (not the best of balance) when u are so bloody big:rolleyes: and landed on the base of her tail (from curly to limp) I took her into work as it was tender around the area, she has pain relief and an anti inflammatory, it was back to it's curley self in a week:D

Maybe a vertebrae (back or neck) injury or far less likely, a neuralgic condition.

Is she ever out of your sight? One of our dogs had paralysis once after falling jumping up at a cat on a fence, the neighbour told us so we assume this is when it happened. An x-ray revealed the injury.

so took her the vets....

shes on metacam for the leg for 5 days - if no improvement then x rays... (could be arthritus...)

for the tail - anal glands....they have been emptied... and on anti b's due to infection! ??!!! poor dog !

Archie has had this from wagging his tail too enthusiastically and spraining his bum/back/base of tail muscles  :o

ahhh right never knew that ! :)

its the same kinda thing as the limp tail.......same looking thing - mabey thats her issue with the taile

no - normal!

she had them "flushed" about 3?? weeks ago (she dragged her bum) this time no butt dragging just limpy tail. and lameness :S

It's just a scent gland and the dog should clear it themselves when they do a poo, sometimes a bout of the runs etc will stop them expressing them, themselves, firmer poos clear them better, trouble is once they are stretched they tend to fill easier

Wish her better soon xx

Thanks :)

shes normally pretty solid number 2's - never seen a problem in a lng time tbh.....

I know the tail will clear but im concerned about her lameness as she had almost 2k in vets bills last year because of the fronts :o
