Ok have a much earned day off work so booked saddler and lesson today. So got on the motorway and so windy my wing mirrors blew in and my car was blown all over the place (and I drive a Jeep)...was scary!
crazy.gif
Then got to road up to my stables and a massive tree comes down about 5 cars in front of me
ooo.gif
...decide to try wait for police to remove it as there is only one way for me to get to yard. Wind is now so bad my car is litterally being buffeted and branches keep hitting my windows...police advise everyone to turn round as more trees were coming down
crazy.gif

Decide to retreat to my parents, a little scared by this point as there is carnage all over the roads...trees and general objects! Again half way to my parents a tree comes down right in front of my car
ooo.gif
A guy in a van gets out and tries to shift it and my car gets majorly scratched by branches! Eventually after dodging more trees I make it to my parents!

Ok so now i'm just peed off...missed saddler and lesson and prob won't be able to get up to yard today as it appears to be fairly dangerous

Sorry for the rant....it's just I was quite surprised just how dangerous it is out there

Anyone else having problems

yup was not fun! I am pretty game to ride in any wheather and am a confident driver but I think I may be asking for trouble if I try to do either today...grrrr I hate winter!

Unfortunately I am looking after someone else's horses this week so had to drive over to their yard to do them. Fine on the way out, but on my way back there was a small fallen tree blocking the road. Luckily it was only a small one with fine branches so I was able to drive over it!

We've got winds like that up here, not quite as bad as I've only seen a few small trees down, but bad enough. Luckily at my yard theres no trees that could damage the stables, but at the yard where I work there are loads of big trees around, and watching them bend and stuff was very scary.

not too bad here now, was a nightmare mucking out this morning in the wind

Will be riding Archie tonight and lunging Blossy (she was meant to be going out with her sharer for the day but it got cancelled). Archie dosent care about the wind, Bloss isnt too keen hence why i shall be lunging her and not riding!

Glad you were ok, i had to dodge debris on the way to the yard this morning aswell, luckily there were no trees down tho.

Everyone be careful out there today! I may attempt to get back up to the yard again later if it dies down! People in the Herts/london area should be especially careful!

I just glad to be alive

I am peed off though as needed that lesson as have Keysoe on sunday! Looks like I won't even be able to ride today!

not windy at all this morning, it's gale force now, the glass above one of the doors just blew in and the railings on the balcony on the second floor have come away from the wall, I guess it's what you get for working on what used to be an airfield (eek)

Eeek and I am sitting in central London with my motorbike outside - might have to consider the tube and putting the lads on livery as they are out in Epping.

Wasn't too bad at 8 this morning - but I hate doing Will O the Wisp impressions.

I've had to remove a tree myself from the road on a road that had already been cleared of multiple trees that morning. On my way back a HUGE tree had fallen right across the road and was lying on a power line so I decided to go the long way round, encountering more fallen trees blocking half the road. Its scary!!!!!!!

No probs...my memory is awful, I have to stick post-its everwhere just to remember what i need to do! N 26 and E 44, am just doing a couple of nice tests to ease him back into it as he hasn't been out BD for a few weeks. I've never been to Keysoe though so hoping it's nice

Honestly don't go! It's really mental around London! Just put the dog in the garden and he nearly blew off his feet! Had to go rescue him! Poor mite! Wind is getting worse and worse by the hour. I wouldn't go an any motorways or main roads as when I took the M1 there was accidents everywhere, overturned lorries and 40mph speed restrictions

Ok we decided not to turn out this morning as it was quite windy. Am so glad we didn't. It has turned into gale force winds!!!
So much so that our field shelter thats been there for 10 years has just been uprooted from its sleepers that were secured by concrete!!
Cant believe the strength of the wind its so dangerous!!
Two trees have also just fallen down onto our fence from the bridleway!!
Be careful out there people!!

Was quite scared at work this morning!!! yard is next to a wood and the trees were moving alot! then leading horses off walker and part of the wall of barn blew down, the lights are swinging loads as well, god knows what will be left when i get back for evening yards!!! I hate leaving horses in for 24 hours almost never do it to my own lad but am seriously considering it today

Wind is awful too, we have in the past 10 minutes had a drain pipe come off the house and a fence blown down in our garden so now the dogs can't be let out unless they're on leads.

And for the first time in ages the weather got the better of me whilst riding! Have my sisters horse to ride and sell and so was planning on jumping her this morning as I have jumped the horse once last summer but we were getting blown sideways.

Horrid here- poor Moon got dragged out in it early this morning and was incredibly well behaved but I'm not doing anything else today, too dangerous to drive up to the yard so YO's doing them for me. Got an afternoon date with HHO

Me too! Thank god I have a great YO who will do Louis if I can't get there and took my appointment with the saddler for me

Just been out to buy feed and then see my two outside nags.

Roof blew off one of the feed merchants sheds whilst I was there and was "attacked" by a white van that was blown all cross the road and only just missed me. Had a sheet of ply wood (i think, went past so fast) blown off a pick up that also just missed me and the lorries were all tilting at alarming angles. I had a lesson booked today and am SO glad it was cancelled. I'd not lhave driven my lorry in this!

The nags up at the field are quite happy - sun is out and they are paddling through the ""waves" on their new lakes!

I will ride in almost anything too as Louis is very unflappable and well behaved but last week I tried to ride in the strong wind and I kept getting bolted and leaped around the arena as it was so windy and Louis was seriously freaked out! I would have worked through it but was actually having trouble sitting upright as I kept being blown sideways! Had to give up!

im in liverpool wind was bad this morning but now its awful maganed to hack out this morning for about 40 mins my horse is very well behaved when she want to be! but spent the rest of the day grooming and cleaning tack. just got home to find weve got a very wobbley fence and the pigola thing weve got in the garden has colapsed oh well a few more jobs for dad

It is wild here in Preston atm, two trees down in my garden and half of the kitchen roof slates ripped off. Nearly able to blow me over! (not an easy task!)
