Deadly winds? Anywhere else?

I'm knee high in salt water!

My road is flooded and we are barrackading ourselves in with sandbags! Managed to do my horsey this morning before flooding, Thank goodness YO can do him tonight!

Very windy here too!

Eeek and I am sitting in central London with my motorbike outside - might have to consider the tube and putting the lads on livery as they are out in Epping.

Wasn't too bad at 8 this morning - but I hate doing Will O the Wisp impressions.

You are one brave lady T!! Ben bottled it and took the landy today!!

And for the first time in ages the weather got the better of me whilst riding!

[/ QUOTE ]

I will ride in almost anything too as Louis is very unflappable and well behaved but last week I tried to ride in the strong wind and I kept getting bolted and leaped around the arena as it was so windy and Louis was seriously freaked out! I would have worked through it but was actually having trouble sitting upright as I kept being blown sideways! Had to give up!

Know what you mean really want to give both of mine a really good jump session this morning but i was getting blown everywhere and one is being a madam and have tantrums jumpin and the other one you don't jump, it just wasn't worth it!
Have a lesson tomorrow night, hopefully that is and really need a lesson for next weeks dressage competition

Yeah, it's building up in london again now....I'm looking across the city at a couple of tall cranes and they're swaying rather alarmingly now

Clever Ben - I wish I still had my old landy.

YO is doing the boys - trees down all over Epping. There are lorries blown over on the M11.

Will see how it is at 6 and decided whether to fly home or take the tube.

If I bike it I will be going very slowly and sitting in the traffic. Luckily the bike is fairly heavy, as am I.

Hi katiejaye, we have similar problems, luckilly I didn't turn out today, there has been a massive tree fallen into our paddock, smashing through the fence, if the horses had have been in there, we would not have been able to get them out.
It's really scarey out there...

very bad winds and gales over in the northwest .... there is a house across the road from me that has scaffolding around it .. and now the whole of the street is blocked off now , by the police the house has blown down .. Eeek !!!

Not looking good for anyone trying to travel home from London by train tonight....no services running north it seems, and can't get onto the southeastern site as it's overloaded
!

At my parents house still and just been out front door to clear up with Mum as there is a pile up or tree debris on front drive and there has been a huge accident outside our house (tree down on car)...scary! Just had to retreat back indoors as be nearly blew off our feet. Anyone in london area DO NOT attempt to go out if you don't have too and certainly avoid driving.

I would say book into a hotel for the night, the roads are treacherous

Yes MK is hell, my boss is stuck in London have just managed to hire him a car so he can at least get home as they have cancelled all the trains out of Euston. My hubby is frantically on the quad at the mo driving round all the fence boundaries to the fields (all 2,500 acres) to check that the trees don't come down across the fencing. There are aparently lots down but all the fencing is holding up so far, although they have also closed the A418 wing/Aylesbury road from Leighton to Wing as there are too many trees down. AAARRRAAAGGGGHHHH How I'm going to get home god knows! no train and then my road is closed. Will be putting my hiking boots on methinks

I just braved driving upto the yard and ran in to have a copy with the grooms and YO. Next thing YO's mum came out and told us all that we had to go home as she didn't want any liveries on the yard given the weather (they're losing tiles off their house and she was worried someone would get hurt)

So! Poor horsey has been stood in all day which I HATE but it's just too dangerous to risk bringing them out anyway.

One livery had a lesson early on in the indoor and walking back upto the yard, the poor horse spooked and overreached resulting in a pretty nasty chunk missing from his front leg
frown.gif

Its days like this I do love full livery though
laugh.gif
Horsey was munching his haylage on a spanking clean bed and the YO had filled all the licket holders and turned the radios up in each block for them. He didnt look too concerned about not having been out tbh.
