Deadly winds? Anywhere else?

Think KatieJaye is correct. According to the met office the winds in our area (Derbyshire) should starting easing from about 6pm and then tomorrow should be relatively settled..

Big temperature drop for saturday and then sunday they're forecasting snow

Apparently London Bridge station is closed to passengers now as part of the roof has come off

It sounds as though services are running through the station though....for now at least

What an afternoon!!

Ive had a couple of roofing tiles fall on my head , whhelbarrows flying around and the whole yard is starting to resemble a scene from the wizard of Oz!! Its so scary when your'e out in it and there is no way of controlling it!! Im hoping it starts to calm down soon as i don't think i can cope with losing any more roof tiles!!

Hmmm...my boss has just said I can head off now if I want....seems most of the services I need are starting from TOnbridge tonight....just have to get there somehow

wind is nightmare here too, just about to brave going out to the yard, hoping tiles will still be on the roof, had bhs exam this morning which was interesting in this wind! sent the horse i was riding into a bucking fit, lost a wheelbarrow, whens this going to stop?!

We have had the back of the roofs blown off of 4 stables( when the horses were in them!!) and 4 parts of the indoor school roof- not nice!

The port of Dover has been shut all day, the 1st ferry is just trying to get in to berth. Its been a very long boring day at work!

following on from earlier post our house has since had a tree blown down and tiles fallen down from the roof! but the wind has eased now. horses were pleased to come in

Ok I made it home...just! Finally tree was moved from outside parents house so decided to make a run for it! Traffic was a nightmare and I passed tonnes of accidents on the way but I made it home! Yey! Still peed I couldn't get to yard though!

Its really bad in Yorkshire. A man has been killed on the M1 after his lorry overturned and several other lorries have also gone over. There are trees flying everywhere and there is so much water.

It was on the radio that the york dungeons have flooded and was telling people not to be alarmed if they saw bodies floating down the river

Well, I made it back from the yard. took over an hour with closed roads. took OH with chainsaw just in case !! Old horses happily eating grass with not a care in the world. Had to call them in !! lol

its been horrendous over here. Apart from the majority of the motorways closed round us due to lorries overtuning there are loads of trees down and branches everywhere.
The wind has hit our air conditioning unit at work and was making the most god awful noises. The building was shaking as well (and they say that new building should move - bugger that it felt awful)
The building across the road from ours had all the roof on the side that faced us flapping about. Its a huge call centre and didnt look very safe. The only thing we could say was that if it blew off it would more likely hit the otherside of our building to where we sit. Not good though for those who sit on that side.
Lots of barriers broken on the way home where the loories have overturned into them. Even saw some traffic lights in an awkward position where a lorry has obviously been blown into them.
Id hate to be a lorry driver in this weather. I really think that they are brave to do so. Even saw a lorry full of cars on the way home. Wouldnt like to be him!

I had the nightmare journey home from hell last night ! It took me 4.5 hours
shocked.gif

I left work early to try and get a train, and on arriving at the station was told the line to Hastings had just re-opened and to wait for further annuncements...yippee I though ! About 20 minutes later we were told to jump on the next available train to Tonbridge, which about 300 of us did. About 30 minutes into the journey we stopped and after a long'ish wait were informed that the train in front had struck a tree and we were waiting for clearance to take a diverted route to Sevenoaks. A further delay, and eventually the guard comes on the tannoy to tell us the tree had come down further down the track than they thought and so we were now being diverted to Maidstone and Ashford Int'l

Great ! At this point I phoned OH who offered to drive to Ashford and pick me up...a good hour each way for her. I left the office at 4pm, and walked in the door at home at 8:30pm

Horses didn't get ridden either, which is a real pain...particularly for Bo, as he had already one day off this week, and had only had 20mins lungeing and 30 mins light schooling the other two days ! Could be fun to ride tonight...NOT !

Hope everyone else made it home safely !?
