So on thursday i got back from a nice holiday... decided to book a school to do some jump schooling on my boy who hasnt been schooled over fences properly since about October... All booked for Sat AM... getting rather excited!

Then Friday morning my Mum offers to do my boy for me, just sat down and my desk when i get a phone call..

Mum is ringing the Vet... Horse has 2 nasty looking yellow scabs on his side which are clearly causing him some pain...
and a few other tiny ones when you look closely

Vet comes lunchtime and reports that she thinks its probably a bacterial infection... cue a course of antibiotics, a full body clip (legs and head included)... and a medicated bath on Saturday (all in this freezing weather!!) poor boy...

And all this just as we have finally kicked last years skin cancer treatment into touch! GRRRR why cant fate just give us both a break!!!!

Anyone got any good luck to spare??

we could do with it... ooo and some spare £££ for vets bills if you have it??

Thanks muchly...

sorry for the rant.. but after last summers heartache and all the pain and stress he went through i dont know how much more we can take!

Vet is pitching a tent next to his stable... and im looking into buying shares in the Vets practice..

Cookies with chocolate chips for anyone who reads! xxx

Thanks. Vet has taken some hair plucks and skin scrapes to test... so hopefully the results will give us something to work with to get him happy again!

im not overly stressed really... i was just getting excited about it all coming together again after his treatment that ruined the 2nd half of last year when he gets this.

Its no big deal hopefully... hell if he can come through cancer and be fighting again no little bacterial thing will stop us!

It would just be nice to have a healthy happy horse again, he is such a good lad and more than anything i feel sorry for him having all these things making him uncomfy! poor darling!

Thanks for the Hugs... and Soulfull has yours had skin cancer too? its horrible isnt it! x

ETA: yes definatly roll on the summer... As long as its all doen with by May.. then we can put it down to a year of hell and move on! x

I know how you feel, just one thing after another sometimes isnt it. I have just found out today that after everything that me and my boy have been through over the last year its not looking good for his future as a ridden horse and all of my hopes and dreams have been shattered

LauraWinter im sorry to hear that about your horse.. HUGS to you to... our current little infection seems insignificant next to your situation.

Dont know what to say {hug}

Ditto what laura said, my boy has been turned out after 3 months, drugged him but it didnt really work, as soon as he hit the field he came awake! He looks as bad as he did before the box rest

Hope your boys has a fast recovery.
I think im just going to let nature takes its course with Jack, maybe a year plodding about the field is just what he needs.

Thanks FB- Although I didnt mean to make you feel that your issues seemed small! I think whatever problems we are all facing, when it is just one thing after another they all seem huge for us. I have a plus side too- we have sold our house and may be able to get somewhere with land so with the money I save on livery I can save up and buy another horse after a while. I am trying to look on the positive side!

However, I had literally just managed to get back on my boy once at the end of last week after losing my confidence when he came back into work and paying my instructor to ride him instead- the ride went really well and I was so chuffed with him and myself all weekend and now the vet has said today that the treatment hasn't worked and he is still lame. All those emotional ups and downs for nothing

Good luck with your horses infection, sounds like you have had a quite frustrating ongoing problems to content with. I really hope you get to go out and about soon- time will fly by and I am sure you will get to do all the things you wanted before you know it

So sorry to hear this Charlie- am thinking of trying the same thing myself although whether I will ever have the confidence to try riding him again after all that time is another matter. Best of luck to you, keep your chin up.
