I have, for sale a 17.2hh showjumper / all rounder.

I placed an advert on a free website.

I had a person email me, asking all the right questions etc.
They ask for a photo of the horse as i hadnt put any on the ad.

I sent them it.

Today i got an email saying, that he is far too big for them and not suitable.
I asked if they meant build wise as i find him ok to ride and im a midget.
They then say no, he is just too tall....

The advert reads '17.2hh showjumper for sale'...

hmm

I do think a lot of people 'guesstimate' their horses' heights, and when they see an ACTUAL (eg) 17.2 horse they can be surprised how big that actually is!

Its makes you wonder how some people manage to get through life! We had a mare for loan a while ago, we were very honest in ad as she's very sensitive, mareish etcetc and yet we got a people up who were fairly novicey. So stopped trying to loan her out as wasn't fair. One of the girls on our yard is 5ft 3in and has a 17.2hh, we measured him and is closer to 18.2hh!!

In defence of them I went to see 2 horses described as 16.1.
1 was 15.2 and the other was 15.3 :D
Quite often people just 'guess' their horses height so TBH when it comes to the height I do tend to take what is on the ad with a hefty pinch of salt
At least they realised at this stage & it didn't get to the time & effort of a viewing ;)
