. . . erm, it's me :o

Dug out grey donkey's bed this morning and left it up for the floor to dry - I'm now doing this every other day - and got in the car to come home and went . . . sniff . . . sniff . . . sniff . . . ewwwwwwwwwww . . . what IS that smell . . . until I realized it was me :(. Let's just say I smell like a particularly dirty boy horse . . . funky doesn't even cover it.

I was too embarrassed to go to Waitrose so stopped off at the Co-op instead . . . made me wonder, though, how many times I have waltzed around after being at the yard stinking to high heaven without noticing

No point to this, just thought I'd share :p

It's amazing how that smell lingers, isn't it.....

Yes! I find it's my hair that seems to trap the "aroma" the most . . . like an idiot I washed it this morning and went up to the yard with wet hair . . . I'll be washing it again this evening . . .

I think I constantly smell! I keep my horsey coats hanging on the back of my small tack room door - when you open that and it stinks in there!
My hands seems to have "horse smell" ingrained in them too....

My OH used to muck out our horse in the morning on his way to work and did often wonder if he was a bit smelly. When one of his clients gave him some very strong aftershave for a Christmas present we kind of got the message. He now has his shower after mucking out :)

my yard coat was the reason my parents built an extension on the house!

straw reeks all the time! I lift the bed every day and I wear overalls and have dedicated wellies for mucking out which are kept at the yard and I am still paranoid about smelling! Atm my ponio's poo smells like he's been eating meat! I think it must be the grass coming through!

Funny you mention that . . . Kal's poo is particularly stinky just now - as you say, must be the grass.

OH makes me keep all my horsey stuff in the car - and has dubbed said car "the mobile tack room" . . . and just the other day my mother got in the car and said . . . "hmmmmm, horse!"

pmsl seems a few locals round here share your view that it's ok to be smelly in the co-op or Iceland but not in the better quality shops!!! thing is i think i'd prefer them to smell of horses rather than the pongy BO or day old cider that they seem to favour:eek:

Personally I don't mind smelling of horse as long as I LOOK like I should smell of horse! Yard boots and muddy jods are at least an explanation of why I stink - made better by having the girls with me also looking like they've been at the yard!

I remember our farmer neighbours turning down an invitation to our Christmas party once with the excuse that, even after showering, they'd smell of cows "once they started to warm up"! :p

To be fair - if I feel I'm smelly, I pop into the Co-op or Tesco Express part of our two local garages rather than the actual shops (although I'm not sure why that's any better . . . fewer customers to offend?).

This made me smile - and chuckle with recognition (spent many weekends working on dairy farms in my youf) . . . although I actually don't mind the smell of cows . . . yes, I know, I'm odd.
