Dear Horse People That Lie...

Does seem to be a thing in the horsey world...if someone jumped 2foot it was 4 foot by the time they tell the story!! I know someone who tells lots of tall tales!! Makes me laugh cos I caught her out once on another horse forum bragging and telling tales...made sure everyone at the yard and those she was lying about saw the stories before pulling her up on it!!! Revenge is sweet!!

Yep they always get found out, however if you don't let on that you know, they continue to come out with more, highly amusing at times.

The world would be a boring place without em put it that way.

Well this girl competing at olympia doing the 128cms funny how tehres no 128cm tehehe :p ;)

oh right.

But they could be...in her head. :D

I had a dream last night that I was in a dressage display at some big event (could of even been Olympia!) riding a top dressage horse :o (closest I'll ever get doing it put it that way!) and the bridle and reins where encrusted with real diamonds, the bridle was worth more money than the horse, I didn't know the drill and the other ladies (top riders) riding in the display were mouthing obscenities at me as I kept going wrong, thankfully the music was so loud nobody could hear

Very weird but thought I'd share it with you all. :D

You get people like that all the time!

One woman used to watch other peoples lessons and sl8g them off openly to their faces yet pooped her pants when jumping her 16.1 schoolmaster over 2ft.

I tend to think they are bitter or jealous and just trying to make themselves feel better.

Totally agree with this & known too many to list. One proud mum said her daughters dressage trainer (who had 'competed abroad') said she & her Welsh D (no offence to Welsh D's, just reckon they aren't the most common affiliated dressage horse) were too good to do prelim or novice & should enter straight at medium! The only competition they had won (including local show stuff against young kids) was a video competition for a very minor society. Apparently the judges at the other comps just couldn't spot real dressage movement.....

Then there was the young woman would would ride anything if it wasn't for her dodgy hips. Old ned she hadn't ridden for years died, got youngster & fell off. Now doesn't ride it, pays somoeone else too....but she jumped over 4'! I personally witnessed her pee her pants & refuse to jump a straw bale at a pony club show. All fences had to be placed on ground before she would go round working hunter class.

Plenty of others, not enough time to go through them!

Never bothered me. I went out, had a great time. Unfortunately had to take the brunt of a lot of the bi*chiness though as the more you went out & succeeded, the worse they were towards you & believe me they were petty. Talk doesn't hurt, some of the physical things they did were a different matter. Still don't regret having a good time with my horse.

I am sure that it isn't just the horse world, I mean ..."and the fish was THIS big!" Okey dokey, whatever you say.:D

I don't care if people lie (exaggerate) about whether they jumped 2' or 4'. I don't think "Oh wow!" more like "Well, there you go then, good for you"

I imagine that I am the same as most people, lying bothers me most when it is malicious and hurts other people.

We could all be telling enormous porkies on here all the time, that palomino in my signature, he might not really be mine, just any old horse I 'kidnapped' from some Flickr group perhaps, easily done, how are you to know, especially as I don't exactly live around the corner from anyone, or do I? ;)

Some people are just clueless, girl on our yard saying her horse is 16.3hh, she is on it while i'm on mine trying to say it's this height mine is 16.1hh and bigger. I just have to smile.
Let them fulfil thier dreams by lying.

My dreams are usually of me just getting round a XC still alive. lol:D

But they always get found out you know. These 4' jumpers - I was with one at Lanark 5 years ago. Instructor put up big jumps (why??) and she fell off straightaway too big for her and the ned but I don't endorse the iinstructors ignorance either, mind you I hate seeing falls so it b******** up my confidence too.

Is there really a need to be so rude to the OP? She has started a thread as she is entitled to do so on a public forum, if you don't like the tone or subject of it...don't reply. Wow there are some touchy people around today. Bit of common politeness wouldn't go amiss sometimes.

Would agree with this totally, the huge consolation is that those that lie maliciously ALWAYS get found out, get talked about behind their backs with their lies passed on to those they are lying about, everybody knows what they are and quickly drops them from their social circle! Ah, Justice!!
