Decent alternative to bandages?!

I bought some N.E.W Airflow boots for Governor a while ago but to be honest i've used them twice and I switched back to polo bandages. I don't always put leg protection on him but when we're doing more difficult flatwork I prefer him to be wearing something.

I've tried various makes and styles of boot but his legs get hot, and fill in everything apart from fleece bandages. I've now had alot of practice bandaging by now but they're still far from the quickest or most convienient things in the world. But I still use them because his tendons are always tight and cool when I take them off.

Does anyone have the same problem with their horses and found a good alternative? Or am I destined to a life of rolling bandages....

Am in agreement with you, (therefore not much help really!;- ) my mare's legs get very hot under boots (Woof/Clarendon) and have just begun using bandages - it's not just the rolling, it's the washing of them too! Was going to treat her to a pair of N.E.W. boots too. Woof have just brought out some 'air flow' ones too. Anyone used these?

I really like my Stretch & Flex wraps, however I don't think they are a good alternative to bandages. Legs are never sweaty, and the neoprene is thick enough to act well as a brushing boot. Although they are more supportive than a brushing boot they are nowhere near as supportive as bandages, so your horses legs may well still fill.

I agree Sal + Kildalton but if you read my original post again I don't always use anything on his legs but he occasionally catches himself doing lateral work etc.

Seeing as its an integral part of his schooling at the moment it means i'm having to bandage almost everytime I school.
