Hiya, does anyone know of any yards near to Bromley in Kent that have good facilities, are neat and clean and well run? I have been suggested a few by different people but have looked round and havent seen anything I have liked at all yet. Yard can be any size really, but part livery or mon-fri full and must have sandschool.

Could anyone recommend a few places? And Bexley is too far but bromley/chislehurst/cheslfield etc is fine.

Thanks

I used to ride at Chelsfield Riding school sometime back and although a little run down looking it was well run and the owner was lovely. Don't know what it's like now or if they still take liveries.

I don't know what all of these yards are like, and you've probably looked at some, but to give you some options:

Bromley: Bromley Common Liveries
Chislehurst: Kemnal, Home Farm, Frogpool (think they do livery)
Chelsfield: Longlands, Pullens (not sure that classes as Chelsfield but its near there)
Biggin Hill/Westerham: Ringlands, Heights, French Street

[/ QUOTE ] I learnt to ride at CRS, many, many years ago! In fact my father also rode there before I was born and I was named after one of the owner's horses! Jan finally retired last year and sold the place - don't know what is happening up there now.

Is turnout important to you? If so then make sure you ask some specific questions before moving to some of these yards.

Oh ok, I wasn't sure. I've never enquired about their livery - it would be lethal for me being that close to the shop!

If you decide to go a bit further down the M20 we have one space at our yard near Borough Green. Downside no arena. Upside miles and miles of off-road hacking! So when it's nice we school in the fields if we want to, once the wet weather sets in we keep fit by riding out.

Thanks, I've had a look at Home Farm and thought it was really nice and looked at Bromley Common and wasnt so keen! Havent heard of Crownwoods, where abouts is that? And can you tell me about your yard StaceyTanglewood like pm me or something? Thanks

Chelsfield is still a riding school and livery yard. It run by different people now and is finally having a make over after all these years

It does have a fab new sand school.

I am at Pullens between Green St Green and Pratts Bottom. It has an indoor school but very limited winter turnout....sometimes none!! It is well kept though the beds are on a deep litter which doesn't suit all. PM if you want any more details

There is also Downe Court Stables. I think thats mon- fri full with an indoor school.

Is Greenacres still going at Leaves Green, near Keston I think (years since I was there!)

[/ QUOTE ] Another blast from the past! I used to stable up the road from there and go there for lessons and shows! Mind you, that was 27 years ago

LOL! Snap! But my very irregular visits were back in 62/63 just after it first started I think!!
Think it must have changed a fair bit since then though. I remember it being very smart and quite upmarket to where I usually rode and they used to get fed up of me banging on about how good it was. Can't say I blame them looking back, I must have been very annoying to them!

[/ QUOTE ] Well we won't have met then, as I wasn't even born when you were there
