I've been with Equine Insurance Solutions this last year with no claims - they used to be called Equine Direct but got taken over by EIS. My renewal is due and I don't know whether to stay with EIS or move to NFU or Carriagehouse which have been recommended as alternatives.

Has anyone got any experience with making a claim with Equine Insurance Solutions - are they as good as Equine Direct used to be? I just want to be insured with someone who will pay out if needed without problems.

My horse is 21 and is still insured for vets fees with Equine Insurance Solutions as we've been on that policy for years and never claimed. I don't know if NFU or Carriagehouse would do this or if I'd have to be on a veterans policy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I think you'll find if you move your horse anywhere now you are likely to go onto a veteran type policy due to him being 21 now. So, if you are getting vets fees cover (for illness/disease) where you are I would suggest staying with them to be honest unless you are not bothered about that bit of cover (seems like you are though).

Not many will offer full cover for a 21 yo horse unless you have been with them for a number of years beforehand.
