Decisions, Decisions, which horses to keep.

I think you look ok on the arab but I would still say sell Willow out of the three because even if you become slim you will still be out of practice in terms of riding and you mentioned in your OP that you had an issue with confidence and so had to have lessons to get that back.

Willow sounds like a hot horse and not suitable for someone who has had a break from riding and has confidence issues so even if you get your weight down may still not be suitable for you. Confidence is hard to gain and easy to lose opposite of weight really!

Just a thought, this is me riding Just for Ace, Emmy's dam, you really think that 'this' me looks out of place on an Arab, yes serious question..

Ace there is 17 years old, and just coming back to being ridden after a 9 year lay off as a brood mare, and she is around 14.3hh. I don't know I am going to get down that low again, which is why I got young Emmy, a bigger, younger version of Ace.

Sigh, it isn't going to be easy.

Gingerwitch, another big guy/girl drafty but well broke did cross my mind, but that is kind of like admitting that you need 2XL pants all your life, I have to decide to either make the horses fit the body I have now, or make this body fit the horses I have now.

Holding, we are in Saskatchewan, middle of the prairies, and this is all happening a month to early for my liking:mad:

You look fine in this picture - nothing wrong at all re weight

Hey BB

If you can keep all 3 then I would. They all "do" something for you. You are so brave around talking about your weight and it shows how caring you are for these guys then work them from the ground, when your slimmer...ride 2 a day not all 3. Horses don't bother about not being ridden. Just enjoy them.

The main thing is you will do right by them.

I am not the person to ask 'tho about selling horses..I have 6......never sold one in my life.

All lovely horses btw.

xx

But if she got a suitable horse she could be out riding now. It would help her lose the weight and wouldn't mean small boned horses having to carry the absolute maximum they can. There's nothing more rewarding than finding the horse that ticks all the boxes

She is hot, but on the other side she is brave, Emmy is a mess that I'm rebuilding from the bottom up, Ben's new Motto is "Grow a pair" because although he is 10 years in body, his brain is stuck around 4 years old I think.

The main thing is you will do right by them.

ROFL, I'm find it very interesting listening to my gut reactions to the suggestions, each suggestion to sell hits a different nerve, maybe I'll have to keep 3 after all...

I think Bens a keeper and think that you will need to ride the other two before making a final decision, but for a multitude of reasons I'd be selling horse three on e you have finished the ground work and improved her behaviour.

I'd keep the first and the last, because both sound like projects at different stages, that you can work on and bring on in a way that complements each other. I get the impression the middle mare means less to you in her own right, if you see what I mean :)

I think first and least too. The first horse will be the best weight carrier too. :)
