Has anyone had a bad experience? I didn't know it wasn't licenced. While I understand it is used widely some vets won't use it. My horse hasn't been right since. If your horse did suffer what was their symptoms.

Used it for quite a few years with my old boy, and now using with my current horse - never experienced any issues.

It highlighted that my cob had an Ivermectin allergy. I worked out that using Ivermectin wormer triggered his coughing, and Dectomax did the same. He does attract heel/leg mites though, and using Selsun 2.5% shampoo on day 1. day 5 and day 10 keeps him clear for a summer.

What happened? I need to give Bert dectomax injection from vets as he has very itchy back legs so expect it is mites.

I've used it on multiple horses without any side effects - not particularly good at shifting mites though, I've found the ivermectin leg wash better.

What side effects did you see?

It triggered a bout of asthma/ coughing/heaving that lasted around six weeks. Nightmare. I didn't realise that Dectomax was ivermectin based, and the vet recommended it for his itchy legs with the usual 'it's not licenced for horses, but we use it anyway' warning. Never again. I did know that ivermectin wormer produced a similar reaction, and use moxidexin when needed, without incident.
