Hi,

We have a lovely silca sand and rubber menage but with this dry weather it has become very deep and is in need of some watering. Does anyone have any ideas/recommendations on the best way to do this? We are on a budget as the YO won't pay anything having recently forked out for a bunker rake to keep it all level. One suggestion is to run a hose pipe with holes round the edge but I'm not sure this will do any more than just water the track.

I'm interested in this too as have the same problem where my share is.. would take ages to hose it. Not sure YO would be pleased with this either. So i am watching this thread too :) Sorry i'm no help to you!

I had this problem, turned out I was supplied the wrong sand, and they weren't prepared to admit it or do anything about it. I ended up buying Clopf from Martin Collins and rotovating it in. What a difference it made. The surface is brilliant, we hardly ever have to work / level it, and it is good whether wet or dry. I think that there are now other companies offering a similar product and of course it will be cheaper.

Not sure we'll be able to persuade our yard owner to fork out for anything different. To be fair it has been good all winter and hasn't flooded or frozen really but its just not coping well with this dry weather (not that I'm complaining about the sun though!)

I've read somewhere to use Gel Crystals which you can buy from garden centres - they retain water to feed plants etc, This sounds like it may be an option for you to help retain moisture in the sand?
