Hi, any suggestions on turnout rugs for my Clydesdale x? I got him and pony a Saxon 600 combo as it was a bargain, it fits my lighter-weight pony but Jasper has burst the neck fastenings on his and it is nowhere near deep enough. I would prefer one with a neck cover, inbuilt or detatchable.

I have a clydey x highland and believe me, he is heavy!!

I find Fal and Master rugs fit him the best. Saxons are better for lighter weight horses.

Horseware do a rug, I think it is called XL for heavy horses, but I havent used this make before.

I used to use Fal but have changed to Premier Equine, They fit my huge boy really well. I know what you mean about costing a fortune in tack. Nothing fits off the peg!

Premiere Equine rugs are very deep, but beware of the sizing - I have found that my mare takes a size smaller than she should in a Weatherbeeta or a Masta.

So - if anyone has a 6 foot PE lightweight turnout rug (the one with a 40g filling) that they'd like to swap for a 6 ft 3............
