I need to re-fence a couple of fields that are used for grazing. But I also want to be able to let the dogs run in the fields, they are lurchers and can jump normal height stick fencing. I am considering fencing the field with deer fencing.

Is deer fencing suitable for horses?

Or any other alternatives for dog and horse proofing a field?

I have Tornado horse netting which I really like.

I went for the taller standard option 120 cms which is tall enough to keep most dogs in I'd have thought. The picture is my 15/15.2 ones with the 120 height

I think they also do a 180 height but I imagine that is pricy

If your lurchers are jumpers, deer fence for them. An experienced dog can scale 7ft. If they show no inclination to jump , ordinary fencing is fine. Mine do not jump and have never got out of my horse fenced field.

Deer fencing is large meshed so easy for a horse to get a leg through. Options would be deer fence for height then electric inside field to keep horses a safe distance away from fence OR deer fence with chicken wire lining the bottom half to stop horses getting leg through. This would also keep foxes etc out. Probably best to talk to a fencing man who would know the various options.

We have 6 foot deer fencing around the perimeter of our property but I agree it would probably need to be higher for lurchers. We have Doberman who aren’t really jumpers so 6ft is fine for them. We also have the really small holes wire mesh in between the fields which is also 6ft to separate the dogs from the horses. The gates also have the mesh on to stop them poking their noses through to the horses. It seems to work well.

I
I don't know the name but driving down new forest I see a wire fencing with straggled metal bars down alternate rows like this

I.....I.....I.....I.....I.....
...I......I....I.....I......I..
I.....I......I....I.....I........

Looks secure and wildlife/ ponies cannot chew or get through but have no clue the name.

Depends on the dogs as term ‘lurcher’ covers a multitude of sins (in all senses ?) Given the lurcher high jump record several years ago was 14’ I’d go as high as pos. Never heard of any problems with horses/deer fencing.

Tornado wire fencing on my 3 sides of my boundary, no they cannot get feet caught in it, not even a mini shetland, not with the spacing I have. The holes are v narrow at the bottom and widen further up.
I've had a couple of hefty bums hit it and they just bounced back off.

I have 6 ft high on extra long posts, with a line of thick tape to the top, in one paddock I have a running rail set 8 inches above. Total height is 7ft, very much contains most dogs, deer dont get in except through the very top field which doesnt have (yet!) the Tornado fencing.
