Sadly had to have my beautiful big grey girl PTS about 10 days ago. She was a big physical presence as well as a big personality and of a delightful temperament. I have contacted rescue associations and breed association as well as several breeders. If anyone knows of a young adult, preferably bitch (pure or partbred/Lurcher) needing a new home please could you pm me. I miss a big grey girl by my side when I go out to do the horses at night and by the cooker in the kitchen by day. Thanks.

So sorry for your loss Lollipop. You are very brave to offer a home to a rescue. What part of the country are you in? If you take a look at DogList, on the found section, there are many unclaimed dogs on there who eventually go for rehoming.

Very sorry for your loss. :(

There are some great pointy dog rescues - I have two dogs from Greyhound Gap and would highly recommend them. I know they often struggle to rehome larger dogs so you would no doubt be a godsend to a dog out there somewhere.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. Will have look at DogList. I have had several succesful rescues in the past. But am not sure I am feeling strong enough to take on anything with potentially severe behavioral problems at the moment. Also have a 'getting older' border terrier and I don't want her chewed/traumatized (she is missing her big friend as well) So this may need to be a private re-homing/buy. Would prefer to have some knowledge of character, temperament is very important (I feel the same when buying horses).

i used to have a deerhound and agree they leave a very big space to fill....if you want a lurcher there are lots on dogsblog.co.uk , just seen one who is in foster in suffolk....looks like a very easy boy , 3 years old, black called henry.....

Sorry for your lost ,it's sad when u loose a friend
I do hav a small lurcher / non ped whippet bitch for re homing 6/8 year old pm me for more info ( she may not b suitable as she has trust issues ,she was a stray)
