Deformed cannon bone?

There is a horse at our yard who was born with a deformed cannon bone and sometimes I think he is in pain when being ridden. How serious a problem is this?

I would think it depends on the severity of the deformity, and whether this creates undue pressure on other parts of the limb.

Deformed in what way? Be interesting to see pics.
Often birth deformities are actually not too much of a problem as other structures just work around what's there- is he lame?
