Think it's next year for foals born, not sure about older horses though. Ciss will know!
Thing is though that unless all societies get together and sing from the same hymn sheet, you will still be in the position of many different type chips being used which can't be read by other make scanners; they have to make sure they are all done with the same chip/scanner or else it's a mockery - as the passport issue is now!
