It might not affect horses BUT it can be spread by car tyres, shoes and boots and the hooves of horses - which is why all the bridlepaths and footpaths were closed during the last outbreak (except muppets round me wtih dogs just walked under the tape and carried on regardless )
So whats happening ?
I keep my horses on a working farm and was planning to ride at dawn tomorrow ? better not ! also planning to do a pleasure ride on Sunday................? Is racing still on ? the racehorses come practically through our yard !
the farmer should put down straw or old carpet type mats soaked in regularly topped up solutions of Virkon (or other approved disinfectant) at all entrances and the horses must walk over the mats
I wouldn't ride out until the farmer has had the chance to put down his disinfectant barriers
We had to do this last year with the poultry flu scare - so if you have any old carpets then they could be useful

This covers a few competition venues including Merrist Wood and Tweseldown I think as well

And also Stilemans & Munstead, Iping's not that far away, Coombelands again isn't that far. The TTT at Shamley Green is in that area; Mattingley (although not on that map) isn't that far either
