Thinking about other post about signs of dehydration.
A friend got a horse from a dealer. He was fab when they tried him so was 5 stage vetted and they brought him, he was fine for a while when they got him home, but then started to rear and bolt. Have thousands of pounds spent trying to find a reason and it all came to nothing so they blood taken at the vetting was tested for sedatives etc. Nothing.
They didn't think he had any water when the visited him as she was thinking he was thirsty after riding him. Could the dealer be dehydrating the horses so they are quiet but so it doesn't show up on tests?
Sadly they have no prove.

Well she had the horse for 6 months before he did anything. She had about 6 months of tests done, every trainer, horsemanship person you can think of and they have all said its him. Its in his head. TBH I wouldn't put it past the dealer they are very dodgy.

I have to say I know several eventers who use this method for dressage. It is highly effective and makes a massive difference to the horses fizziness/temperment. Especially good at 3DEs.

Interesting. Thanks Lec. I suspect they get away with it too. Though surely the first vet check would show some dehydation as they must have to stop the water a while before the dressage?
