Hi all, I’m in need of a bit of hand holding while I wait for the vet!
My TB had injections to his right hock with cortisone last week (June 5th). Today he has swelling and warmth in the area where he was injected. He has never had any adverse reactions to all previous joint injections. He was well overdue for the injections to this hock. I took him to the clinic for the workup and subsequent injections, and he stayed there for two nights after the injections. I have done everything how the vet at the clinic prescribed; first with continuing the box rest and then gradually increasing turnout as well as starting ridden work (easy 20-30 mins of walk) this week.
He is not lame and is afebrile. He is eating, drinking, and passing manure as normal. He is at low risk for laminitis, and has had negative digital pulses. The swelling and warmth is only on the lateral (outside) side of the hock and the rest of his leg is cool and tight. Is this a cortisone/steroid flare?
