The ones i’ve known that were quite stiff still rolled, they just didn’t sleep laying down. My gelding stopped rolling when his back starting causing him pain and he was pts. It’s not normal.

A friends horse never rolled or lay down . Eventually other problems led to a work up and found severe hock arthritis , he had steroid and Arthramid and now rolls and lays down to sleep regularly in the field. I assume he struggled getting back up again

Friends horse didn't lie down in stable so she put a camera up. Realised horse tried but couldn't and a knee problem was diagnosed. It received steroid and is fine now.

I've known a few that stopped rolling or lying down as they got old. Stiffness and arthritis make it a lot harder to get up and down. It comes to us all.

My boy would stop rolling when his back was out, in the spring time you would not find any hair on the ground. Then after chiro it was like someone opened a pillow as there was fur everywhere.
