Well as some of you on Facebook might know, I managed to bugger my back again last week and have been battling all week to get it ok again. I officially rattle with all the meds I am on and there is a query over arthritis in my sacrum-illiac joint/right hip but an MRI scan will show whether or not. Either way my siatic nerve is very inflammed and I couldn't walk earlier on in the week.

I purchased a prolite back support and my word it's amazing!

Anyway, back to delicia. My yard was holding a show today and the YO who is an utter angel kindly let me compete elementary HC on delicia as my last test I had to retire due to a few factors.

I havent ridden all week and my drs didn't want me Woking let alone riding. However with my history I know that any amount of rest never helps. I said to myself if could work all week I would see how I am today as to whether I ride. Well... I worked all week so today I rode!

Oh my word, I must say today is the reason why I have persevered through all the pain and set backs. Today, despite a hiccup in one canter (a mixture of see being a kittle tense and my leg given way a little) we scored 62%!!! the judge was a listed judge and scored fairly.

Scores ranged from 8's to a 2 :S lol. The two wa deserved as I decided to miss out a canter transition and asked later so delicia remained confident. 20+ people watched my test, it wa agony to trot but I have learnt to ignore nerve pain. But it was so worth it when I went down that centre line at the end and delicia halted lovely and I threw my arm around her neck and he wickered to me. :)

I spoke to the judge after and she commeted on what a lovely team we are and how well I rode her. I got a 7 for my riding and was sitting MUCH straighter. As commented on previous threads where I have asked for CC that I seem to collapse in my back, today confirmed I obviously have a problem. I am booked in for a MRI and physio, and have been told I will prob always suffer with pain problems. But I don't care. Because today, despite everything, I rode my horse with a smile on my face and for the 5 mins the test ran for, I felt like the old me and at one with my beautiful horse.

Sorry if this post makes me look bigheaded, but I burst into tears when we got back to the stable because the sense of relief and accomplishment. Today, me and Delicia because a team, and we can only ever build on this!

Thank you :D so proud! Judge wrote "elegant scopey horse showing some good work. Some tense moments well coped with." :D

Aw what a lovely post. So glad you both enjoyed the test. Isn't it amazing that the human mind can overcome pain when we're doing something we love? Hope the mri will show up something that can be easily fixed. (((((((hug)))))))

:D well done both of you
just a thought i know you've probably gone over everything many times with your docs so feel free to ignore but after you've had mri etc maybe ask if they run a pain clinic or if that would be a good way to go as they usually now a lot more about it and have some new ideas that fit in the with person rather than just popping pills anyways sounds like you are doing fab all by yourself its quite inspirational :o

Well done!!! Sounds like a fantastic day and good on you for riding despite the crappy week you've had.

Hope the MRI and further investigations result in something helpful for your pain.

Doesnt matter how crap the weeks been, delicia makes it so much better!

As a chronic pain sufferer who's hoping to get back into riding, your post gives me hope. Well done on getting such a great result and no wonder you feel so exhilerated and proud, you deserve to be.

It's so nice to read such a positive post as this.

Well done you and your mare. I think you should be as proud as proud and swank loads about her!

That's great hear your feeling positive and happy about yourself and your horse and hopefully your back problems will be sorted or at least helped.
