Demand for full livery?

Trust me as someone who has full livery, its really difficult to find.

I'm over in Lancashire so not a million miles away.

Actually, now that diesel is so expensive, it will make better financial sense for me to go on part livery when I buy my next horse, and a lot of the DIY's at the yard I will be keeping it on have clearly decided the same thing. There are more part liveries than DIYs there at the moment.

Yep, petrol is so expensive now so it was cheaper for me to go assisted in the end!! To be honest what im paying altogether (fuel, livery, feed, bedding, hay) i could probably afford part livery.
Diy used to be the cheap option but it totally depends on how far you have to travel now

I'd definitely like better part-livery options locally (i.e. muck-out, t/o, rugs, feet picking and supervision for farrier with optional extras e.g. exercise and grooming) Crucially somewhere my horse is well cared for and the YO/YM is a decent person. As it is I am at an unassisted DIY and pay another livery to do mine Mon-Fri (I moved there on Part-livery but that came to an end and I didn't want to leave.) My current arrangement works out more expensive than a basic 7 day part-livery but it is nearby has fab hacking and I have control over his management.

I think there is a demand for good livery (whether full or part). However IMO standards have declined (especially with the increase in the price of hay, bedding etc) and getting reliable stable hands is difficult so you end up with sub-standard mucking out, a couple of hours turnout (or no turnout at most yards in winter) and minimum hay/feed etc.

It is often "cheaper" to be on part livery, but when you factor in the additional hay and bedding (I used to buy an additional 2 bales of shavings for each horse as the stable hands threw too much out/horse stood in/beds not mucked out properly) as well as hay when I was on "part" livery. It costs me the same to keep 3 on DIY as it did with 2 on part-livery (even factoring in the petrol costs etc).

Working out the cost of feed, bedding and extras, full livery at £110 p/w would probably save me money in winter but as I have the time to do DIY, I prefer to drag myself out of bed at stupid o'clock and have the peace of mind that everything is done to my standard.
The only yard where I'd consider full livery charged £36/7 a day last time I looked. That would definitely be higher than my current costs !

My lad is on full livery - this includes stable, 24/7 365 turnout, basic feed, ample hay/haylege, straw, turn in/out, rug change, hold for farrier/vet (the staff don't take over when you're there so I can do the jobs if I choose to or leave it for them).

I choose this yard as it worked out cheaper than DIY when factoring in fuel, time, etc. Plus the out-riding is better and its only a 15 minute walk from home.

They work out prices based on size of horse/pony - I pay £230pcm for my pony but that's basic needs met (fed and watered not groomed/feet picked/exercise etc) - if I wanted him stabling over night all year they charge extra. :)
