I've reluctantly decided we have to sell a couple of horses to support the rest, and have just stuck one on hquest. I'm a bit unsure about the price as he is a one off, the stallion Matinee now being dead. He's a three year old chesnut gelding likely to mature to 16.1hh ex a mare whose bloodline has produced some nice stuff (Diamond for one). We started him in summer and got to the stage of lungeing in tack, long reining and leading from another horse on the road, then decided he needed time to grow as he was big and gangly...he is currently being overstamped with the Sport Horse society so he can compete in the Young Event Horse classes next time. (already had a passport with another society)
I've put him on at 4k does this sound too much, not enough ?
CCj has three horses coming in for reschooling or holiday livery early 2007 and as they are paying customers she will have to spend her time on them not the youngsters.. then as she has four to event I've got to fund that somehow!!!!

what a shame it wasn't 9 months ago the add went in ...

4K ... hmmm probably about right if this were next spring, for me I would be thinking around 3K atm but then I am notoriously tight with the ££££

Good luck though, I'm sure you will find him a nice home

What have you put him under HH? Sounds about right to me, I brought mine for that broken, but unknown breeding. If he's a nice type (and i'm sure he is) should get that without a prob as its the sort of age people like. Good luck.

£4000 is correct, i have huge demand for irish and dutch 2-4 yr olds, unbroken with people willing to pay upto around £5000.
Same happened last year, we sold 4 youngsters in a week on the run up to xmas. Must be a xmas thing!

I think i would pay about £3-3.5 but i am also quite tight when it comes to buying horses as some are so overprcied these days.

I do think you will be able to sell him easily at that price though

I paid £4K for mine this time last year in same condition ie broken spring then turned away, he'd been back in work for 2 weeks but was a year older, nice breeding paper etc, so I think you're about right

£4k sounds very reasonable, I'd certainly not want to sell him for less, but you may need to wait a while to get the right buyer. So what I'm trying to say is as I'm guessing you don't have to sell iin hurry don't reduce his price if he does not go immediately as he is easily worth that, just now is not the best time of year!

I reckon he'll go in a shot Feb/March time if not before.

there is a three yr old on youngstock, sports horses on horse quest by matinee just backed £5500 so think you are in the right area.
