A good decision I thought. Especially liked this bit:

The identification and evidence produced by the PR, as early as during the preliminary hearing, regarding the sources of the presence of the substance;
- and the substance is a newly detectable substance which is often used by riders also for legitimate therapeutic reasons

exactly. he used it admitted he used it but there was no evidence to support it being on the horses legs and this has been classed as infringement of a medication as opposed to a performance enhancing drug.

I feel SO sorry for Denis Lynch tbh. He was well on the way to a medal and was on one of THE class horses of the games. A stupid, silly mistake. I hope he and Lantinus will be sweeping the boards as soon as he is back in competition.

no. just the ban and the fine as per the document. and on those findins jaffs no reason why he should be. as i said on earlier threads the FEI have had totread very carefully wher this substance is concerned because it is commonly used therpeutically as the report says, so they cant accuse people of cheating without being sure, only of stupidity for which that sort of ban would be a little harsh, regardless of what anyone thinks went on!!

An astonishong decision - if he had been a human athlete with this substance applied would it be a 3 month ban?

As an Irish equestrian I am saddened and disappointed at both the FEI decision and the nonchalant approach of Show Jumping Ireland.

Equestrianism particularly show jumping must introduce some self regulation or will become the laughing stock of the world - assuming we are not there already!!!!

Interested in any other views - if Equiblock used to "reduce stiffness" in a horses back how does this differ from a cold remedy taken by an athlete?
