Denman

I am sure Denman has had an echocardiogram to prove he has a structurally normal heart. He was chemically cardioverted with Quinidine, a procedure carried on on tens of thousands of humans every year (I don't have the exact numbers to hand) and their lives carry on as normal after this procedure.

Regarding McKelvey. He almost died in the Grand National after sustaining a devastating leg injury.

[/ QUOTE ]
Utter bollox. If the leg injury was so devastating, he'd never have raced again, let alone within the year.

[ QUOTE ]
As for me knowing more than the vets etc. I know for a fact that vets are paid a lot of money to "agree" with those involved with the running of racehorses.

[/ QUOTE ]

Perhaps you can back that fact up?

[ QUOTE ]
Ask any genuine vet and he or she will say that racing is amongst the cruelest of sports.

[/ QUOTE ]
Ah...so the ungenuine vets are ...what? Unqualified? Poor bedside (sic) manner? Or perhaps not agreeing with the rantings of a fluffybunny eejit?

[ QUOTE ]
He also said the combination of the burst blood vessel and long break away from the track, could easily have been contributing factors to the death of Best Mate.

[/ QUOTE ]
If you even had the intelligence to check Best Mate's record, he finished most years either at Cheltenham (March) or Aintree (early April) and didn't start racing until the November of the following year, barring once, when he ran as a 5yo mid-October. As do the majority of NH horses.

[ QUOTE ]
You can say what you like, but if there is money to be made from a horse, they'll get it either from the killer buyers or racing them until they can do no more.

[/ QUOTE ]

More naive unsubstanciated emotive bollox......I can't believe I even replied to you.......unfortunately, this forum won't allow me to tell you what I really think.........
Your initials in the real world don't happen to be DS do they???

So they were never advised to have him put down or that he would never race again? They only got him right so he could have another go at the National. Why don't you read some of the interviews.

So the industry is squeaky clean is it? There is never any fraud involved, race fixing or anything else? Maybe you ought to check YOUR facts!

Like I said before, the sport has such honest people that individuals NEVER take back-handers to agree with someone else? So yes an outsider is much better qualified to pass a more accurate opinion.

Hmm.. Did you bother to learn that he ran his second last race on the 28th of December 2004 and died on the 1st of November 2005. I double checked these facts on the Racing Post website. Are you going to say that they are wrong as well?

If you were so smart, then how come you have never heard of a PM? Or if you were really intelligent, then surely you could tell if I was that DS person or not. I shall neither confirm nor deny. You can figure it out yourself. And throw as many insults my way as you like. They don't bother me one bit. I've got far more important things to be concerned with. You are full of hot air as you can only reply with nasty remarks instead of backing up your claims with facts and figures. Please get back to me with hard evidence that the racing industry actually gives a damn about the horses. Until then I will continue knowing that it is seriously corrupt, driven only by profit and greed.

PS: Bollox is spelled bollocks!

I said most years........a ten week difference (Dec to March) isn't going to be significant.

Oops, that soapbox is looking decidely wobbly........quite apart from the fact that you need to start being pedantic about what is obviously a wordplay, you accuse me of spouting hot air, when you're more culpable than I am. I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to back up with facts and figures? Pestering every vet in the country to see if they agreee with you or me?
At no point have I said racing is totally squeaky clean, but it is not as corrupt and uncaring as you state either. Your accusations of racing horses to death are wide of the mark, especially the two you mentioned. If I'm supposedly being 'nasty', the derogatory remarks that you're chucking about regarding the connections of Best Mate and McKelvey are gently and thoughtfully put, are they?
I find the attitude of people like you hard to stomach.
If you really care about animal welfare, get off your backside and go and do something about the huge numbers of horses and ponies neglected across the country, or indeed in the world, instead of picking on a soft target such as racing, which polices itself far more than any other body that governs horse sports.

Back to topic, Denman is a superstar, I am however a huge Kauto fan, and I don't think he ran to form last year in the Gold Cup due to the ground.
Bring on the rematch!

I think Best Mate's connections- Henrietta Knight and Jim Lewis are some of the most 'caring' in racing and would be mortified to read some of the accusations here.

I DID get off my backside and do something!! I saved an ex-racer from certain death and how are you to know that I don't give to charity or that I haven't put in countless hours at a local rescue shelter??

I think 'emotive rubbish' best describes that particular theory! And whilst I would love to see him fit and well back at cheltenham next march, I do so want kauto star to wrestle the gold cup crown back from him

I can assure you Overtoyou that Rossdales in no way would ever bow down to some greedy owners demands, I work for one of the richest men in racing and they would not do something to any of our horses if it was not of benefit to the horse. I was as at Rossdales the day he left with my own horse and he did not look to be a horse on the edge of retirement, sadly unlike my boy.
