Hi everybody, I had to post as I am so chuffed with Dennys first day out jumping at a real grown up show.
For those of you that dont know us. I bought Denny ( Owfen toffee Crumble) as a 3 1/2 yr old in Nov 2008. He had had a rough time and had trust and stress issues due to abuse. He is now 5 yrs old and a happy healthy Welsh Section D, he tries his hardest to please you in everything he does and never says no.
Anyway yesterday i decided to bite the bullet and take him to a local show to do some working hunter classes.
First class was the novice horse over 14hh the jumps were at 70cm, it was a great course with lots of fillers (pulled to the sides) and a very narrow stile.
we entered the ring ( Dennys eyes were on stalks) but he was very calm, fences 1,2,3,4 and 5 were jumped no problem then at fence 6 the stile going away from the exit he slowed right down to a halt sniffed the flowers under the jump then turned a circle and jumped it no problem. the rest of the course we were clear. We didnt get to go into do the showing as it was clear rounds only. 15 in the class and only 5 clear. but i was so happy we did the whole course i didnt care.
Next we did the M&M whp (80cm) all the fillers were in brush fence, hedge, double with a big oxer ect and we had an extra jump a log roll as fence 9. denny jumped like a pro. we had 1 pole down on fence 8 ( my fault not his, i thought there was an extra 1/2 stride!!) but apart from that it was great.
anyway as there was only 1 went clear we got called in to do the show which he did foot perfect.
I nearly fell off when the judge called us in second and said what a great horse he was and what a fabulous gallop. :O) big stupid grin was worn by me all the way home.
I was so pleased with my little horse and he was the perfect gentleman all day.
We got back to my stables at 1pm, Denny had lots of hugs and carrots and then went out to play in the field with his mates.
I had such a good day and am a very happy mum. not bad for a horse that we were told was dangerous and would never amount to anythig!!
Cookies and glass of wine for all thoses that got this far.
sorry the pic is only outside the ring but the jumping ones were all from behind, big horses arse and my big arse, I couldnt do that to you... lol
Teresa.
